Had no reason to be sitting this game out. I understand sitting out starters, but Vaughn isn't even considered a second string on our depth chart for the preseason, he's a 6th round pick that's proven nothing. I just think it's ridiculous that they gave him off
I agree with you, me lord, yet had Deuce played and injured a limb we'd be wailing like babies.
Sometimes being safe is safer.

This whole duece thing stunk from the get go. I couldn't watch the game, but the fact that duece didnt even play is beyond bs.

If he still makes this roster, he was gifted it. He earned nothing. He made zero plays against nfl players.

As Ive said before. Never have I seen a 6th round draft pick handed a position like this guy has been. Add in the fact his dad works for the team and Jerry is a PR junkie, this reeks of nepotism and marketing.

F Jerry. F this move and F him for the terrible Lance signing. I swear, the guy could turn a twinkie into a turd, simply by muttering at it.

And I was hopeful this year. Now, Im just sick.
The clock has struck 12, better hope Duece sucks on gameday or this is a wrap.....

Would have been nice to see him play more, but they pretty much know what they have in him which is an explosive play-maker who is a liability in the blocking game due to his size. I think they really wanted to focus on whether they were going to keep Leupke or Davis.

He's first string in the role he'll play. They would rather lose Dowdle or Davis to injury than Vaughn. It's as simple as that.

He doesn’t practice against NFL players? Who does he practice against? (By the way, many of the guys on the field in PS game 3 may not be NFL players next week)

Ive all but conceded that he'll be on the team now. Hard to overcome a pet that was handed a job. Couldnt even evaluate him against real NFL players.

Its not over yet though. Still need to see what they do with RoJo. He may stick and replace someone after the second game.

So now we'll see how the games play out. I really do hope he is all that. I still dont think he will, but Im hoping for the best.

How many times has he been hit or tackled in practice? Come on man.

Lol we had Davis playing, our 1st round pick playing. Deuce needs reps just as much as anyone
Davis is fighting for a spot on the team and they most likely were giving him a chance to audition for other teams. Mazi needs reps... against anyone. He needs the experience as he is learning a whole new way of playing DT. So your arguments are a little off. I understand the concept and I mostly agree with you but for these two examples, I think the right call was made... but hey... what do I know :)

Davis was fighting for a roster/PS spot. Mazi had a bad game last week and they are still working on getting him to fire off the ball quicker. Whether you like it or not, this staff believed Deuce didn't have anything left to prove. Other players were treated the same way. For example, Tolbert and Turpin didn't play and they are the fourth and fifth receivers.
I said almost this exact thing before I got to your post... lol.

Of all things, OP chooses to complain about a guy not playing in the final preseason game? Appreciate your legit list of reasons as to why you disagree with the coaching staff. Some people on this site are desperate for attention and will post anything just to get a reaction from somebody. Keep being classy, OP.

Doesn't matter where he was picked in the draft. The fact that they didn't play him shows how important the coaches feel he will be to the offense and didn't want to risk injury.

Lol so you think a 6th pick doesn't need reps? Good grief yourself
He did get plenty of reps all through camp and in the first preseason games… some against the first string Dallas defense, which would be way better than anything he would’ve seen from the Raiders.

The coaches have seen him running the plays a ton. They know what they have in Vaughn and didn’t see the need to open him up to injury in the last preseason game.

I’m not attacking you because I understand where you’re coming from… but the coaches know waaay more about Vaughn, his role on the team, and if he needed reps last night or not. They’re the one’s who didn’t want him to play, so they must have the info they needed on him.

That is all that I’m saying.

And the team itself tells all the rookies in the first rookie minicamp that it doesn’t matter where you’re drafted… it matters what you do. So I don’t think the team would look at it as Deuce is a 6th round player and needs the reps. I think they just see what they need to see from the young guys and makes play time decisions based on that.
