Both offer different skillsets but I believe Parker's style is a better fit for this team. He is as sure handed as they come and as good as anyone coming down with contested catches. He also has a knack for getting open after plays break down.

He has been inconsistent throughout his career mainly from injury but he's a part of one of the few organizations more incompetent than the Boys. Dallas probably could've negotiated a 4th rounder and some change to get him for that reason. Trading a 3rd for him is better value than a 1st for Cooper, IMHO.

If you watched the game last night you can see just how talented this kid is.

Based on the Dolphins having lost Albert Wilson for the season, I don't think Parker is available anymore.

Get the WR position set for the next 6+ Yrs and trade 2020 4th and 2019 5th for him. Then have Cooper, Gallup, Parker and Beasley(maybe, in contract year) for the next couple years.

That way when Tua Come’s in next year he’ll have plenty of weapons...

Lol

Parker May have been a better value, for a 4th rounder.

That being said, Amari cooper is clearly a better receiver than Parker. Amari was better when they both came out of college. And he has been much better to this point in their careers.

Both drafted in 2015. Cooper 2X Pro Bowler. Parker 0 Pro Bowler.
That said, Dallas acquired the better value. Besides, Parker is older. :p

I have had Parker in fantasy. When healthy the guy is a stud but he’s hurt all the time. I mean all the time. That’s why I want to stay away from him.

He had his one good game last night vs an awful texans secondary...i wouldnt have spent anything more than a 5th. Even then id feel ripped once he got hurt, id rather have cooper by far for the 1st

As if we don't already have drama, Parker's agent is calling out his coaches for not playing him last week. Parker was coming off a quad injury and weren't sure he was ready to go. When Parker originally injured his quad a couple weeks ago, he didn't bother to tell a coach or trainers and it wasn't until that Friday's drills and he couldn't go through drills did he tell them he was hurt.

Too many folks base their emotions on 1 play or 1 game. Folks keep saying they wanted Gordon or Parker over Cooper is crazy to me. Availability is what we need to most, being hurt and/or injured does this team no good and that includes only giving up very minimal of draft picks.

People are creating threads about Romo coming back. I don't think discussing this is irrelevant.

We had like 24 hours to even discuss Dallas trading a 1st for Cooper before it even happened

And I would say the same in the Romo threads...and it's not an attack on you, it's just that i don't get why we would spend time on a hypothetical scenario that now isn't even possible

I see a guy who HAS to contest catches because hes not getting separation on a lot of plays..sounds way to familiar....

, Cooper will fit fine if we get him the ball, Gallup wil develop and we have Beae and Austin coming back. its upt o Dak and SL now..BLOCK Throw Catch

Parker looked pretty good last night.

Someone mentioned another issue with Cooper. Before we got him, a lot of the Dak defenders were suggesting he's being let down by a WR group that won't make a play for him. In other words, won't get that ball in traffic, or make that tough catch with a defender draped all over him or snatch that ball that isn't thrown perfectly.

Cooper might not be that guy. At best, he has average hands. His strength, which we can use, is run nice routes and use athleticism to get open. But is he a guy that's going to make that tough catch in traffic when we need it?

Parker seems more like that type. I am not suggesting he's the better WR. Just a different one.

A 4th for Parker is clearly a better deal for Dallas, but that is not the same as saying Parker is better than Cooper. I am not sure which player is better but we will find out about Cooper in time. I think the point is a 1st round pick was too much to give up for Cooper. I would not give up a 1st round for anyone other than a QB. Its not a question of which WRs will be available in the draft next year. Its a question of which players will be available at any position when Dallas picks. This team has more than 1 need. Also, there is no guarantee Cooper works out. Everyone quotes his stats from his 1st two seasons. But what about last year and this year? They want to ignore recent history because it doesn't favor their argument. The point is, when to offer compensation it should be for CURRENT value not past value that Dallas may never see from Cooper. Look at Cooper's stats from this year. 6 games and 3 games under 20 yards. in those 3 games he had 4 catches! He had two games over 100 yards. That's better than anyone on the Cowboys but no one on the Cowboys could fetch a 3rd round pick except Beasely, maybe. Maybe Gallup gets a 5th. For Cooper to be worth a 1st and $14 million next year, he cannot disappear for 50% of his games.

Given Cooper's 2018 performance numbers, someone explain why he is worth a 1st round pick and arguing he is better than anyone in the 2019 draft is not an explanation. The question is why is Cooper worth a 1st round pick, not why is everyone in the 2019 draft class not. Also, who will be the WR free agents next season? Isn;t it possible Dallas could keep their #1 pick and still sign a top WR free agent?
