Might be premature. Just got through watching some of the practice footage on dallascowboys.com and he looked better than most of the contenders for his spot. He made a couple of nice inside moves and caught a contested deep pass, while Brice Butler struggled and Lucky Whitehead just looked OK

Andy Jones, though, made a couple of nice contested catches in the footage, and Ed Eagen also showed the quickness to get open and make catches.

Street always looks good in camp, every year he's talked up. It's actual games he has trouble with. :D

He's made the roster the past couple of years, so his demise would be getting cut, which is what many predict. Signs of life are making the team whether he deserve to or not.
In all probability he's made the team because he was a draftee. Even Danny Coale managed to stay on IR for one season.

I would love for street to turn into a beast. But every camp always has that one dude who's a psychical player in shorts and tshirt. They often don't cut it when the season starts and the pads are on.

Although being drafted probably gave him an advantage, it has not proven to be an absolute that draft picks will make the roster.

Last year, we drafted Laurence Gibson in the seventh round and he was cut at the end of camp. The previous year, we cut draft picks Will Smith, Ahmad Dixon and Terrance Mitchell before the start of the season.

Now, they were all seventh-round picks, but being a fifth-round pick didn't save DeAngelo Smith from being waived at the end of training camp in 2009, and there are others who could be mentioned as well.

No doubt if we had waived Street, he would have ended up on the practice squad, but the team apparently believed he was worth keeping if just for his potential alone.

He seems to be a nice kid. He looks the part: size, speed and hands. All he needs to do is perform and so far he hasn't. I can see why they're being patient with him but this is his make or break camp. If anyone of the newcomers show anything Street will hit the bricks.

Then there's this from Jeff Sullivan on dallascowboys.com:

"Wideout Brice Butler might not be starting in Week 1 against the Giants, but he is going to start at some point this season. Not sure anyone has improved more in the last year among the skill-position players."
The exact reason I said we wouldn't draft a WR this year. All along the Cowboys have said they really liked him.

Devin Street will hold his on in regards to making this roster... Solid receiver with a nice resume from Pitt. Most people and fans in particular needs to understand some players takes time to adjust & develop inthe NFL and not everybody is ready-made coming out of college to put up numbers.

Six of Street's seven receptions went for 1st downs. I like receivers that consistantly move the chains. Irvin was like that.

Every player has a different time frame for when the lights come on. Hopefully, its what we will witness this season.

Dez
Twill
Beasley
Butler
Whitehead
Are locks. Butler for his speed and the fact they traded for him and whitehead for his return skills and he is the primary backup to Beasley.
The question now is will they keep 6 wr while keeping 4 tight ends?
