Does anyone like these smallish speed WRs? Which one would you draft, and why? What round?

(BTW, I thought Houston's Pro Day was today, but I haven't seen any reports on it.)

Desean Jackson with pick #28 or Dexter Jackson in round 4 if he's still there!

I'm kind of liking Avery. Looked good at the Senior Bowl, great speed, and at an official Combine-certified 5-11, 192, he isn't that small.

I can't say I've ever seen Dexter Jackson play.

I've said it before, but when I watched the App. State/Michigan game, Dexter Jackson looked like far and away the best athlete on the field (i.e., a man amongst boys). He just looks special to me.

I agree with Dexter Jackson, at earlier reports he was scheduled to go about the 5th round, but after the combine and his pro day work out, they are saying the 2nd round, now what i would do is this, Jackson should go anywhere from the 3rd round to 4th round. So, its important we pick up an extra 3rd or 4th rounder so we can take a flyer on Dexter Jackson.

Still get that high WR in 1st or 2nd round but get Dexter Jackson too. then we will have our punt and kickoff returner too.

Good stuff. I wonder if that Michigan game is online somewhere where I can watch it. I'd love to watch that upset anyway.

Theo, do you think Jackson is big enough to hold up? I'd love to have a Steve Smith/Santana Moss style WR (I obviously don't care if they are small) but is he too small?

Dexter Jackson looked great at the East-West Shrine game practices

or was it the Senior Bowl?

anyways, the dude can fly, but he doesn't round his routes at all, and he can eat up a cushion, meaning he's not just an explosive player, he's fluid, he also displayed some great hands, and usually reached out and got the ball at it's highest point, I wanna say 4th round, but like someone mentioned, he could go as high as round 2

I think so. I think Jackson could put Moss and Smith to shame. He just flies.

He looked great at both.

Smith? As in Steve Smith?

You think Dexter Jackson will put Steve Smith to shame? That's a pretty bold claim, Theo.

I didn't say he will. I said he could. He's got that sort of ability. It'll obviously depend on a lot of other factors.

idk man, Steve SMith has been dealing w/ mostly double-coverages and inconsistent QB play for the past 2 years

Haven't seen a ton of either of them, but Dexter Jackson really caught my eye in the all-star games. That guy is a nightmare to cover.

Well you're right, you said could, didn't mean to make it sound like you guaranteed but what was shocking to me is the "to shame" part. Steve Smith is one of the best right now, and to put one of the best to shame would require some Randy Moss type play.

1st off NO ONE can put Steve Smith to shame, that's 1st off!
If he had that ability to put him to shame as you claim, he wouldn't be ranked as a 3rd rounder or later, he'd be a top 5 pick!
I like Jackson too, but to say he could put Steve Smith to shame is, well, simply ******** as you would say!

It'll obviously depend on a lot of other factors

Oh, and I "COULD" hit lotto tomorrow, depends on a lot of factors like if I pencil in the right numbers they select!
:)

Avery, who struggled through the combine with a hamstring injury, wowed scouts today with his speed and quickness. Measuring 5111/188lbs, Avery posted a 37 inch vertical jump and 10-6 broad jump.

His forty times were fast, clocking between 4.32-to-4.35 seconds on the indoor turf at Houston. Avery ran a solid short shuttle of 3.90 seconds before turning in an amazing 3-cone run which was timed between 6.25-to-6.29 seconds.

Compare this time to the combine where the average receiver time in the 3-cone was 7.02 seconds with Harry Douglas of Louisville turning in the fastest clocking of 6.51 seconds.

Sources told us Avery looked exceptional in the position drills afterward catching passes from former Texas Tech signal caller B.J. Symons and taking direction from Jerry Rhome, who oversaw the workout. Avery did not drop a single pass during this morning.

That cone time is a little suspect. Houston athletes have a habit of putting up ridiculous numbers at their pro day.

I probably like Avery as much as I like Dexter Jackson, I'd take either of those guys later on.
