Prior to this game, Dez was T4th in the NFL in targets at 71 w/ Andre Johnson. AJ Green led the league in targets with 78. Calvin was at 62.

Nobody can say Tony doesn't throw the ball to him.

Calvin did miss a game this season, and last week when Dez was targeted 10+ times in the second half inflated that number some what.

Romo's pre-snap reads are very telling. Look where Dez lines up and then look at the coverage. If the safety is cheating to his side, Romo will totally discount him. Dez becomes the last progression in Tony's read. That's fine and dandy. Romo doesn't want to force stuff into double coverage. So move Dez around and take the safety out of that play. Make a LB have to switch off or something. Confuse the defense.

This is part of the reason as to why the offense is so predictable.

I don't buy into this crap that Dez is double covered so therefore we have to throw elsewhere. When Dez was a rookie he would have double coverage also and yet Romo threw the ball up for grabs and Dez caught it. What ever happened to those plays?

So targets inflate the number of targets? Who knew?

A few of those turned into INTs so we got more WR help and currently have a 18 TD to 5 INT ratio.

I believe Romo is being handcuffed by you know who.

I'm till trying to figure out how that number turned from 10 after Denver to fourth in the league in 2 (?) games...

Im all for spreading the ball around. But Dez's double teams are still beatable. Irvin was always double teamed and we still found ways to give him the ball. Thats because we had coaches back then drew up plans to beat those double teams. Our playbook is not Romo friendly or Dez friendly. Its complicated for our offense to run and easy for the defense to defend against. Thats why we have penalties such as false starts and receivers running the wrong routes and its not only Dez.

You didn't see a problem when they were among the worst in the league in first half offense and pitful in red zone offense? But you probably won't ge the connection....

Because they were trash in the redzone. It was execution. You can't be a good redzone offense with a bad offensive line. You can only cover up so many deficiencies in personnel.

Were still using Garretts playbook aren't we? He still strategizes on what our game plan is supposed to be. Fact is that Garrett didn't do a damn thing about it. Thats because he doesn't know much of whats going on. Heck, why is he still the head coach then?

I don't understand why so many here defend Garrett is beyond me. Jimmy would never tolerate NOT giving the ball to his playmakers. Jimmy would always find reasons to win those close games. Yet people defend Garrett when we lose and give him credit when we win. Thats crazy.

Its not about defending Garrett. Its about placing blame where it belongs and I don't know about you but I don't know if Garrett deserves sole credit for this offense when he's A)Not the one throwing the ball or B) calling the plays.

Its his playbook but at the end of the day in his playbook Dez is being single covered and Romo for whatever reason has no faith in him to beat single coverage. That's where this is at.

Romo said yesterday that Dez knows the ball is going where its suppose to go. So it does have something to do with the Garrets offense. If Garret wants to feature Dez he will. Garrett cant be absolved for taking blame in the stagnant offense. The first half of the last two games have been brutal.

This offense just doesn't fit the team. Heck Detroit played their safeties up on the LOS and still we ran the ball with no success whatsoever. Why can't we run a simple play action and go deep rather than try to force running the ball when we know its not working? The entire offensive system is flawed.

No that's insane. Dez is a mismatch at all times. There is no play in our playbook where Terrance Williams is a better option than Dez. None. Romo just doesn't have faith in Dez to throw it to him. That's all I can think of.

Gone is the play action pass, delayed draw, TE down the seam route...You know, stuff that actually worked for us before.

I wrote the same thing during the game thread. Calvin is able to do the things he does because he is their offense. ITs design around getting him the ball.

You have to give this guy more chances at the ball especially down the field. If the ball is in the air, there is a very good chance chance he's going to catch it, regardless of coverage. The hail mary vs Philly last week into double coverage was very nearly caught by Dez. Like Megatron, Dez has an unusual ability to track and attack the ball in flight. USE IT!!!

Yes I saw that too. To make matters worst why did we insist on running the ball then when they had their safeties up playing run? Running it was just dumb and I feel for Dez being upset about that.

I frankly don't know why they didn't throw to Dez more often. Maybe they don't have a play action pass as part of the play book? Which goes to show that the main problem is the philosophy on offense. It just doesn't fit the type of players that we have.

Im not disagreeing with you. But if the Offense is designed to go a certain way that's were Romo is going obviously. He said it himself during his press conference. Dez knows the ball is going to the right person. Thats a fundamental flaw in the scheme.

With this offense, if calvin was a cowboy, he would have been targeted 6 times yesterday. Thats why its asinine.
