Dez is returning punts

Ok with this 'best man' philosophy.
Should we put Miles in as KR?

Yup. Dez has been majorly injured 2 times now on kickoffs and punt returns. The major reason is he does't go down when he is supposed to. Lets put Miles back there and see what he has.....

Funny. I'd think this has to do with Dez being the teams' best punt returner and this being a way to keep his head in the game

that, too.... if dez returned punts on a regular basis he would be one of the 2-3 best in the game at it.

You have a valid point there. That adds around five touches a game for him.

If they are putting the franchise QB out there to hold for FG and PAT, they can put their 2nd WR out there to return punts.

A thousand times, this.

If he's the best at it on the roster, and it won't gas him too much for his WR duties, yes.

Exactly.

I agree.

100%

It's looking more and more like Miles is not coming back this week. He hasn't even practiced yet. If Dez gets hurt back there.. that leaves Robinson, Ogletree, and Holley.

My feelings on this had previously been that I don't want Dez returning many punts/kicks. The occasional one was okay, but nothing more. Now that Robinson has emerged I'm leaning towards it much more, though I want a healthy Austin back first. I was simply worried about our starting lineup of WRs. With Robinson, I don't feel so bad about it any more. Plus, we really don't have anyone who can do a good job of it outside of Dez it seems.

I think we'll be sorry when Miles retweaks his hamstring and Dez gets seriously injured again fighting for return yardage. Our offense will quickly go from unstoppable to one dimensional.

It's an unnessary risk for a very low reward. He's too valuable to the offense. Just my opinion.

No guts no glory. Should we seal the entire 53 in bubble wrap?

Punt Returning is a low risk play. KO returning is not. I've always viewed it as the riskiest ball possesion play in football.

But the only injury I can even remember seeing a PR suffer was Dez's earlier in this year.

I believe it's high reward low risk having him handle those duties.

He's a dyamanic open field player and this could give him 1-4 more chances a game to make an impact.

And now that Miles is back in the picture, Dez's touch's will be further limited. PR is a great way to keep him involved.

But outside of all that, check the calander. Tomorrow's Dec 1st, it's crunch time.

I will be concerned with losing Dez when he starts to average more than 3 catches per game and more than 1 catch per second half of the game.

That may sound like a negative post about Dez, but nothing could be further from the truth. I am big fan of Dez and I want to see his talents put to work as much as possible.

I don't see you knocking Dez. It's the truth so far. He'll continue to get better, but having another weapon on special teams is what this team needs to get all three phases of our game up to speed.

Wouldn't it be sweet to see Dez return a punt this Sunday for a TD?

Well, that is what can happened when you are double teamed the whole freaking game.

So we'll be seeing white screens this Sunday? I'm not too excited about that..

No those are Dez's two punt return touchdowns. I just messed up the link I fixed it.

I think Dez likes playing against the Giants. I really think he's gonna take one back for 6 on December 11.

With the emergence of Laurent robinson dez should be back there returning punts. Hes a game changer and will definitely make an impact
