I'm glad Dez is trying to show that he has learned at least a little from Witten, by trying to be a team leader. Every little bit helps.

He hasn't learned anything from Witten. Witten runs in quicksand but one thing you have to say about him is everything he does says this the the right way to do it. Witten may not be very good anymore but no one can blame it on a failure to know what he is doing.

Witt does everything the right way... he just runs about the average speed for an adult platypus.

Still scores, blocks, gets open and catches with the best of them though. One tough SOB too.

Gotta love Witten.

I have to dissent on Wittens current ability to block but good post otherwise.

I didn't say Dez would ever run routes like Witten. But I do think he can try to be a team leader. With players like Romo, Church and Free gone others need to step up. Players don't have to be perfect to help another player when they see them doing something wrong.

I know. I'm not knocking you or your post. I just think Dez needs to shut up about him being a leader. Stop talking about it and help the kid if he can. Dez needs to work on his own route running before trying to teach someone who is probably already better than him at running routes.

I've had very little issue with Dez since he's been a Cowboy. The only thing I've ever had a problem with him was when he skipped rehab sessions last year after getting re-injured. Even still, it wasn't the worst thing in the world. Immature? Sure. Worst thing ever? No.

Me, too! :(

But not because of Dez, Dez is awesome and Switzer should soak up every bit as much info as he can :)
Agree whole heartedly. Amazing how Karma works. First it was Irvin mentoring Dez, which at the time Dez was a handful, and now he's teaching another young player as himself at one time, the same that Irvin has taught him. Me likie. :D

At one point do people stop holding a person's youth against them and allow them to grow up? And everything I've read to date is that Dez has matured into the kind of professional you want, so who else would you want to mentor the young man?
This times 10! Everything about Dez these days is exactly what you want in a teammate.

I know a lot of people hate him. BUT...Witten seems to love the guy. I trust Witten's opinion of him far more than any of our opinions of him.

Do you think that Witten would coke out and say Dez has gained leaps and bounds over the immature simpleton he was, but he still has leaps and bounds to go? Probably not, even if it were true.

Trust your eyes. Dez is a poor route runner.
