I grew up a Cowboy fan and Michael Irvin was one of my favorite Cowboy players ever. I loved Mikes passion, leadership, and just the way he played the WR position. I am really starting to think however,Dez may be the better player. What say you Cowboyszone?

Hard to answer that question with Dez not putting up the hours Mike did. I think Dez has the potential to be greater than Mike. However, it's just too soon to tell. Not a bad question, though I'm sure the butt hurts will answer differently reeeeeeeal soon.

Even Mike says Dez is better, the only difference is Mike had Troy....

Mike had Troy, Emmitt, a fantastic offensive line and a great defense. Up until now, all Dez has had is a great QB. He will improve now that we have a better offensive line and a defense.

Its still early for Dez. He is more athletic than Mike and faster than Mike ever was. The sky is the limit for the kid.

Today's triplets have a good ways to go to catch up to The Triplets, but I would love to see them make a move. They have to get to a Super Bowl to get started, IMO. The only reason I mentioned all three of them is because I think they will have to make the move together. I don't think Dez will ever eclipse The Playmaker without some very significant team success.

The thing is I'm not talking about team success. Of course this squad will never do what those 90's teams did. I'm just talking one on one Dez vs Mike.

Yes, Dez is more athletic, better hands, quicker, etc. Doing it in the reg season is one thing, doing it in the playoffs is another. If Dez can dominate in the playoffs and win a superbowl, ok.

Mike all day, everyday. Dez may have more pure talent but Irvin was a gamer. Mike performed every game, including the post-season and rarely had a game he was not involved in.

It is a different game today, but Irvin was money.....Dez is not so much at this point. He has his games but also disappears for halves. Not sure if coaching, scheme or what but Michael was an integral part of that team.

As far as I am concerned, Mike is atop the pedestal until/if Dez knocks him off.

You do make a very good point about Dez disappearing for stretches of games.

Yes, Dez needs to learn to take over games. Mike did that often. Very rarely was he locked down like I have seen Dez b
I don't believe that to be the case. Troy had prototypical size, a cannon for an arm, and was extremely accurate. There's a reason he was drafted #1 overall.

Romo is definitely a more dynamic playmaker though.

Troy had prototypical size. Romo is two inches shorter than Aikman. However, both are extremely accurate. Matter of fact, Aikman's career accuracy percentage (61.5%) is lower than Romo's (64.9%).

Truthfully, I think both are/were extremely talented. However, I will say this; Romo would have thrived with that 90s team. That o-line, Emmitt, Mike, Novacek and that defense would have put him over the top. I still think we win 3 Super Bowls with Romo as the QB.

But, I shudder to think what we would like with Aikman at QB the past few years instead of Romo. The offensive line (until this year) would have gotten Aikman destroyed. Aikman never could move like Romo does. Hell, J.J. Watt would have plastered Aikman all over the field in the Texans game a few weeks ago. No way he could spin out of that sack like Romo.

Let's not be quick to underrate Aikman. I still think he could take teams from the past few years to the playoffs.

Tony might have better numbers, but put Aikman in an offense like the Oilers of the past or Saints of today and you'd see incredible numbers.
