Dez practiced today

Good for Dez. One way or another he's going to get his money, good to see him out practicing while they work it all out. He makes the team better by being there.

Can I just piggy back this entire thread by saying there is something very special brewing in Cowboys Land. Dez cannot stand not being out there with his brothers, grinding it out during a "voluntary" mini-camp. He understands that his presence only brings the team that much closer to being the very best.

Dez is the catalyst to getting this whole thing moving towards a Championship. I'll say it again, the mojo feels very similar to the mojo we all felt as fans during the Super Bowl runs in the early to mid-90's.

#FINISHTHEFIGHT!

Sure. But you don't know what happened behind the scenes to make this happen (to protect Dez). I find it funny people act like Tom Condon an idiot and is willing to forego the huge commission he's in line for when Dez inks.

But more interestingly....Desean Jackson foregoing OTAs to go to basketball games and Dez participating while unsigned.

Dez does not have to get permission from his agent to practice. He should, but probably didn't.

Jerrah is a lot of things, but a snake isn't one of them. He'd make it right

Would you risk 12.8M for no reason. All he has to do is sign the Tag and it's guaranteed. They can still work on a contract until July 15th either way.

Dez is a terrible negotiator, but I love that about him. He participated in OTA drills today despite not signing his tender yet.

Bad poker face, Dez. But you love football, so do what you love.

Man I just love this dude.... #nohomo #michaelsamrules

This impresses me quite a lot. That said, I really think Dez should wait until he signs his franchise tender, if not a long term contract. While I love his team mentality and his desire to just play football, his market value is so high right now, the smart play would be protecting himself.

You're right.

Even if he doesn't sign he can only get a one year deal from anyone after July 15th.

There really is no point to not signing, especially if he wants to workout and play this year.

None of his contract comes to me, so as far as im concerned, there is no downside here.

Dez is laughing

Yeah and he has 0m in the bank this year instead of 25m+

And he only gets his 12.8m in 16 installments starting in Sept with 0m guaranteed beyond 2015.

Yet he is still working out without a contract, something any agent would tell you is crazy. So he isn't being brainwashed by Condon or RocSports.

He wants to be here real badly, so just sign a fair deal like TSmith did.

You don't know that. You're literally just making things up.

You seem to harbor something against Dez and dismiss his intelligence as a person. Case in point? When you said he'd jumpkick his agent to sign a 30 year 300m contract that was all backloaded and had no guaranteed money. Just insulting to a man you've likely never met.

What happens if he gets hurt before signing? Does he get nothing?

It's a gray area. Some say if he is working out with the team he is covered, but if he is working out on his own he is not.

But I only saw that on Florio's site. It doesn't seem like the team would let him workout without a contract

In your example he wouldn't get 25m up front unless all his guaranteed money was a signing bonus.

That'd never be the case for a variety of reasons.

Maybe he has insurance or something.

At this point it isn't that far fetched.

They like big signing bonuses to keep the initial cap hits lower but they don't want to guarantee much more than that amount.

They could add another 15m in staggered guarantees like they did with Romo that wouldn't kick in until 2017.

If they have offered 40m guaranteed already the deal would have been done.

Also from what I've seen reported they want more of a pay as you go system with Dez verses a big signing bonus.

"Afraid of how all that money at once will impact him."

Just sign the 10/114m deal with 25m guaranteed and you'll be a Cowboy for life.

He probably wants close double that guaranteed money. Not that I would pay it, but that's probably what he's asking.
