Dez practiced today

If they have offered 40m guaranteed already the deal would have been done.

Also from what I've seen reported they want more of a pay as you go system with Dez verses a big signing bonus.

"Afraid of how all that money at once will impact him."

It isn't a true 40m guarantee

He would get 25m right now a signing bonus and 1m and 2m the next 2 years as salary. That would equal what he would get if he was franchised twice.

Then if he was still on the roster March 1, 2017 another 15m would guarantee covering the next 3 years with another 4m,5m,6m as yearly salaries

That would be 5yr/58m in real dollars.

Then just 10m a year after that.

You don't know that. You're literally just making things up.

You seem to harbor something against Dez and dismiss his intelligence as a person. Case in point? When you said he'd jumpkick his agent to sign a 30 year 300m contract that was all backloaded and had no guaranteed money. Just insulting to a man you've likely never met.

My first statement is fact. On the second statement I said probably.

Tom Condon would never get another client again if that was the best deal he negotiated for Dez.

His career would literally be over.

You are being a bit dramatic

5yrs/58m in actual paid dollars is a great deal for a WR

And that is not the 'best' deal. That is the whole point.

Dez wants to play and stay in Dallas, so he leaves some on the plate.

Dez is one of those players you just pay and move on. IMO, he's important like Emmitt was the season he held out. Dez just makes the offense go and scares the heck out of Defenses.........

Do you work with agents? I do. I have one. I've had several, over time. This one's a good one too. He works for my best interests- and that is not always monetary.
Negotiating is more than dollar amount sometimes with certain people. It's about quality of life. It's something I talk about with my guy all the time.
I don't want to leave El Paso. I don't want my name everywhere. I want to be paid to the amount I feel is fair to how I give and want to live.

I'm not saying that is what he wants, but what I am saying is a good agent is working FOR you. He wants what you want. If you want that almighty dollar, then that is what he wants.
If he wants what I want, then he adjusts to you. A good agent asks you what do YOU want and works toward that ultimate goal as best they can. They get paid off of not only your contracts, but everyone else they can get and their contracts.
Word gets around, believe me and agents both suffer and prosper over it.

I don't know what Dez wants. Neither does anyone else, but I wouldn't be so simplistic to say that if X guy didn't give Y dollar amount to Z commodity then he isn't worth his salt.
There's more to it than that...

Great to see Dez back at practice but very stupid from a business standpoint because he has not signed his franchise tag yet. He is basically practicing without a contract right now, that is very, very dangerous for a player to do.

He didn't practice.

Just in case you didn't read the DMN article:

Sources said the Pro Bowl receiver went through individual drills but did nothing during the team portion of practice. One source stressed that Bryant’s appearance has nothing to do with any sort of movement in negotiations. He simply wanted to practice with teammates, show his commitment to staying in shape and get some work in with quarterback Tony Romo.

Got to love his dedication even if it wasn't the brightest move to make.

For what its worth, Florio explains why it could actually be a smart move:

As Broncos G.M. John Elway pointed out several weeks back when venting regarding the absence of receiver Demaryius Thomas, unsigned franchise players who get injured while working out on their own get nothing. Unsigned franchise players who show up pursuant to a letter agreement that guarantees their franchise tender if they tear an ACL or pop out an Achilles who get injured get full pay.

I'm not sure what the bolded part refers to.

What is a 'letter agreement'?

Without having seen one, I can guess that it is just a letter from the Cowboys stating that if Dez participates and gets hurt that he will be financially covered. So its a contract in the form of a letter. Dez practices and in exchange the cowboys agree to cover him in the event of injury.

Michael Irvin alluded to it yesterday. Dez's love for football and desire to work with teammates is usually a gift, but can be a curse at a time like now when the smarter negotiating ploy is to basically be a ghost.

Man, I love Dez. He has every reason to be away from work and is still showing up.

Give the him the $$ he wants based on his leadership, if all 53 buy in to his attitude the Cowboys will be go a long way for a long time.

He visited per the other reports and thread or he actually practiced per this thread?

From what I recall, he only participated in individual drills. No team stuff. At least that's what I remember reading.

Dez is a terrible negotiator, but I love that about him. He participated in OTA drills today despite not signing his tender yet.

Bad poker face, Dez. But you love football, so do what you love.

If you are going by the picture on Cowboys website that is not from yesterday that is from last year. I have yet to see anything saying he is at practice. He has dropped by facility but from what I have seen is not working out with the team. Please if you have a link I would love to see it.
