Not resigning Hardy is a step backwards. His presences elevated the play of others namely Lawrence. We have to add talent to this Dline not subtract, and no this won't be a case of addition by subtraction. We will be in need of two significant talents on the D-line instead of one. Garrett needs to get his head out of his *** and learn to deal with people and stop putting so much credence on is ideals, people and situations differ and you have to deal with them on the level that they are on not force them to fit in how you think they should be. Is he difficult yes. Is he a bad person personally I don't think so. I think he is a young strong willed man that got in a situation that he is having a hard time dealing with the after mass of it all. None of us know how we would react to a national persecution, so spare me the judgment. Stop being concerned with how is actions come off nationally (the media is going to twist for their benefit all ways) be concerned with helping him deal getting his life back together. Fix the root and rake up the fruit. old saying that applies to this situation.

if we have to sign a $10mil player to elevate a $5mil player, we got issues with both players to be honest. as for getting his life back together, amazing that came in AFTER the wonderful benefits you tout (whether i agree or not) of having him on the team.

i don't care about his personal life and am more tired of it than illegal e-mail. do it on the field or go. hidden benefits are just shinier excuses.

Regardless of what the players think of him, Hardy didn't deliver as expected, either on the field nor off of it. I'll leave it up to the FO and coaches to decide what to do with him and not look back afterwards.

It seems to me that he renders as much in terms of distractions as he does by being of service on the playing field. Let's face it -- allowing him to get away with rule violations just isn't any way to bring about contentment amongst the players who must abide by them.

This draft will be one that offers more exceptional talent in the area of defensive linemen than we've seen in many years. One of them might well be equally as effective as Hardy would be at a significantly lesser cost and less distraction.

All things considered, I have doubts that retaining Hardy would necessarily be a step forward for this team. We'll see how the front office and the staff feels about him in the offseason when they decide whether to retain him or not. They will surely have a better handle on what to do with him than anyone on this forum. Let's respect their decision when the time comes.

Don't understand your first comment of course higher paid players should elevate the play of others. That is the case in every team sport. Second point not admitting that this games success is built on the human commodity is unrealistic. These are men not robots so yes thinks that effect them off the field have to be factored in.

mostly snark - so apologies for that. just that i don't feel hardy is earning his $ as it is, or was in this case. to say "but he makes someone else play better" as something to behold, well that means we can't talk about his *own* accomplishments and that makes his price tag even more painful.

does he make someone play better? maybe. but if you want to go there, then the crowd saying his lockerroom behavior hurts is just as valid.

Having a player on your D line that offenses have account for is immeasurable by numbers. Though his individual numbers may drop his presence benefits the D line as a whole.
As far as his lockerroom behavior that is a reflection of poor leadership. Why could Jimmy Johnson lead a group effectively and that same group be what they were under Barry Switzer? Leadership. I have no confidence that Garrett is a leader of men.

neither do i but it's not as if johnson was a strict disciplinarian unless he had to "send a message".

"Rust" sounds more realistic than it does saying you are "done" at 26 or 27 years old as a pass rusher. You will see next season for whoever he plays for. He'll have atleast 12 sacks.

Probably.

Having said that, the Panthers have had 3 different DL go over 10 sacks over the past 3 year (including Hardy) and you have to wonder if part of his success was the fact that he was playing on a very good defense overall with a good balance across the DL that allowed Hardy to avoid some of the double-teaming that other premier pass rushers are used to because they are the main/only guy on their teams.

News flash: Dez, bless his heart, is in the NFL for his receiving skills, not his ability to assess talent or to even communicate with the public.

But if Hardy can shake the rust off of Dez, then it might be worth the gamble.

see the difference is wait for it............ They produced in big games ib the Super Bowl

So just to be clear. They can be screwed up, crazy, and do dumb things as long as the team they're on wins Superbowls and they're part of that?

If not then when they screw up and do the same stupid stuff you're going to bash them?

That's not hypocritical in the least.

A full off-season and he can't shake the rust.

Yes. Historically, time away from the game and increased age always mean worse performance. It isn't like he's some long time established performer. A couple good years.

He's 27 years-old.

I'm glad dez supports Hardy, Hardy can negotiate a deal with Dez. With that 70 mill contract Dez got he should have the money to sign Hardy. lol

Dez needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about his own play.

About the age where you can't just go out and dominate if you aren't treating your body right. About the age where your physical skills are going to not get your through if you don't study.

Partying all season. Late. Gee, that doesn't affect performance.
