If he can get a good insurance policy that would pay him 30-60 million if injured bad, then that would make it better.
I have to wonder what payments would be on that type policy , and how hard would it be to collect.
Might be better if the team guaranteed it and they have the ins. policy.
Jerry has the money to pay if that happened and he could have the ins. and it would be off the cap.

Easier said than done.

You probably never had that type of money so you don't know how you'll behave.

You can tell me, what you would and wouldn't do.

The same way I can tell you what I would and wouldn't do with a gun pointed at me.

That makes no sense, because someone makes millions they must get more money cause they don't have to have a budget. GTFOH

Delusional...okay I'll be delusional. [personal insult]

However, there will be help at RB and DALLAS CAN WIN WITHOUT DEZ. If this team is about one Player it's the QB like every single other NFL Squad.

Dez or any player can be injured on the next play, an over absorbent contract is not in our future because Dez isn't invencible nor is any other player in the NFL, regardless of the contract, if he goes down Dallas will have to rely on Team Wins and Defense.

I think we can win with Defense plus Team concept, so label me delusional then go kick your pet, slap your date and curse your maw.

Dallas can win without Dez sure, how many games is the question, we aint making the playoffs with our current stable of RB and no Dez Bryant. I can promise you that. I dont care how good our defense is.

I don't think so. While he did buy that jewelry, he clearly cedes control of his assets to others. It used to be West/Wells and now he is with Roc Nation. I have always had the impression that Bryant is aware of his limitations and is not afraid to get help from people that he trusts. He may get swindled but we will see.

Not sure why so much of this conversation is about how Dez will spend the money he will eventually make. If I am due for a raise---I hope my boss pays me on what I am worth to the company on the same level as my peers without factoring in that I may blow the money.

I think his tweet is aimed at the backlash he's getting from threatening to sit out games next season more than the current state of negotiations. If that's the case and he's not happy with the franchise tag, he should blame the NFLPA and not hold the Cowboys and fans hostage. The Cowboys are proceeding w/i their rights, which were negotiated and accepted by his union.

#nailedit!

additionally, if he does suffer a career-ending injury I'm quite positive he'd get some kind of settlement and pension....
he needs to shut up and make his 12 million.
If he continues to act like a baby I won't be upset if we start taking offers for a sign and trade deal. (yes i'm aware we can't trade a franchise player who hasn't signed his deal)
I'm sure Minnesota would love to have Bryant for AP.

But would he get the other 30 million he would earn with a longterm deal?

It is not just Dez that hates the franchise tag, every player hates the franchise tag regardless of how it was created. Dez Bryant, Justin Houston, Pierre-Paul, Demaryius...none of these guys have showed up yet, heck I would bet Dez has probably been more active with his team than those other guys with his two brief appearences so far. He will sign the franchise tag without a doubt but really...is it a good bargaining chip to say "I am going to report to training camp on the franchise tag in July!".

I don't disagree, but trying to build a public coalition with fans by crying about making 12 million a year isn't going to resonate. In fact, if anything it will make the fans take the side of the team. He could shut up and handle his business outside of the twitterverse.

In a world without a salary cap I would have no problem with teams being on the hook for an additional 20-30m if a player gets injured.

But we have to live with the cap repercussions when the player is gone. Maybe the League should make guaranteed payments to injured players cap exempt and I bet teams would be more generous.

I know I would rather see the players who are risking their bodies make more of the pie than the Billionaire in the luxury suites.

dez is about as smart as the sock i put in this morning. In the end Jerry will make it right and dez will be in the poor house in his mid thirty's.
