I honestly believe there's three reasons to Dez's added attention from the media.

1.) He's a WR, which are mostly labeled as Diva's who only care about me, me, and me (fair or not)

2.) His past problems make him an easy target, and when he slips up it makes him that much easier. Kinda like kicking a dog when it's down, sad, but true.

3.) He's a much more emotional player and his sideline antics are much attention grabbing then say someone like Romo.

And of course he wears the star which just adds on to the coverage he gets. I think a lot of it is unfair criticism towards Dez, but he certainly doesn't help himself one bit. As he gets older I'm sure he'll learn more and more how to handle those situations better.

The same thing can be said about Romo in regards to his perceived choking though. It's unfair criticism, but Romo doesn't help himself after nights like tonight. His past problems make him an easy target and when he slips up, it makes it that much easier.

And as you said, the star on your helmet.

They go hand in hand but you can see where I'm coming from. You can't say Dez "doesn't help himself" and then dismiss the notion that Romo "doesn't help himself."

I gave you a reason. Don't keep asking me for legitimate reasons if you reject the ones I give.
You stay because you're supposed to, because you're a part of a team, because you're a professional, because you're getting paid to be with your team, win or lose, because there's still time on the clock. That's what responsible, professional people do.
This isn't fantasy football or a fan forum. This is real football. And real football players stay until it's over. If the team is going to endure Dez's negatives and costly mistakes and not give up on him, then he owes it to his team to do the same for others on his team.

"Because you're supposed to" is not a good enough reason. And who says that you're supposed to anyway?

Stop it. This is nonsense. He's not paid to stand on the sidelines for the final 40 seconds of a gutswrenching embarrassing loss. These kind of talking points are so stupid. He's paid to catch touchdowns and make plays. He did a lot of that today and more than earned his money. Whether he decided to stay out for the final 40 seconds so the camera could sneak shots of him sitting there staring off into oblivion is cursing under his breath is irrelevant and doesn't make him any more or less "professional" than anyone else on the team.

It boggles the mind. Of all the many, many, many problems this organization has, people continue to nitpick about our most talented player who seems to care more than anyone else on the team.

Watching Dez and his passion for the game and desire to win is a breath of fresh air. His teammates are losers and being a loser seems not to be acceptable to Dez.

You and your talent deserve better Dez. Get out of here and go somewhere where you can maximize your potential and win.

He has grown up alot over the last couple of years. He actually cares about winning and I like the way he goes about it. If we had 40 other players like him we'd be just fine...IMO.

You're talking about two different things now, one you're talking about play on the field, and the other is off the field. Romo certainly doesn't help himself at all when he throws critical interceptions, and have you heard the beating he takes? What Dez faces is in no way comparable to the amount of back lash Romo has received over the years. And like I said you're trying to compare 2 completely different things. Now you're comparing someone's on the field performance, to another player's outbursts on the side line(or walking off the field early).

The fact is, Dez has received criticism for his behavior, not really for his performance. And he has had trouble in his past, so that makes it that much easier to bash him when he acts immaturely.

Romo has never received criticism for his behavior, nor has he ever had an outbursts like Dez's before. Or has Romo never walked off the field before a game ended. And also I'd like to add as of right now, ESPN hasn't even mentioned Dez walking off, so maybe he'll catch a break?

Exactly!Your post says it all.I know people are angry about losing, but I can't believe that people can't understand why he shouldn't have done it.

His teammates and coaches walked out on him too by their ineptitude. You can only take this crap for so long. I don't blame Dez.

Garrett has betrayed us all..............................worst coached game I have ever seen...................I would have walked off the field as well.

Guys like Dez, Murray and Lee are winners. You see how mad Murray looks when he's not getting the ball or Dez flipping out when we get dominated. You don't see Lee smiling after a loss. THOSE are the kind of guys you build teams around. Bad losers make for great winners.

I can't believe Murray wasn't right there with him. Hell, Murray could have left in the third quarter and Garrett/Romo may not have even noticed.

I am with you. And considering he averaged over 7 ypc it is unfathomable that he was not used more in the second half to limit our D from being exposed and run out the clock. My little girl even said - "How come they don;t keep giving the ball to 29 dad? " "He is really good." I just looked at her and smiled.

I love you for that post. Romo doesnt care and it goes all the way back to Cabo. Witten cares but I don't think it hurts him. We have three players with 100 percent heart. Sickening

He should have stayed and waited with his team, but after that game this to me is not a really big deal.

If things don't change after this pitiful year. I'd almost feel like telling him to play out his contract like a man, and go somewhere else. Don't waste away your talents like Fitz or AP for a team run by an owner/GM/everything that willl not put the team before his ego or his wallet.

...almost :)

Would've been awesome if the rest of the damn team just followed him. And, then, later in the day put out a statement that they refuse to play for this joke of a coaching staff any longer.

Wasted performances by Murray and Bryant. Thanks Red.

The guy was emotional after a devastating loss. Not the best move, but should be the least of our concerns today.

I have said this for a long time now. As a result, I stopped being mad / angry after a loss.

I concur, But you know what it's so empty watching them there not fun, I don't get enjoyment out of it its like a movie I have seen over and over again, Im watching them thinking about yesteryear, with the great players coaches, Its like watching invasion of the body snatchers same uniforms but different people , I feel somewhat bad for Romo as an athlete he has to be pissed that he is going down as a choker, but in reality he goes home to a huge house no bills and his family, So how bad does he really feel. Its Crazy to put ourselves thru this every week year after year. NO?

I vote for whatever it takes to keep Dez a Cowboy. I would literally cut anyone on the team to keep him. Especially after yesterday.

"Because you're supposed to" is not a good enough reason. And who says that you're supposed to anyway?

Uh, almost every NFL player who has played the game? Don't you think they'd know that you're supposed to remain to the end? Every former NFL player who is a commentator has said so. And the reason why you stay is because the game isn't over. Do people really have to explain this to you? Really?

This doesn't even make sense. If the Packers fumble, and Dez isn't around, what then? Is he around to catch touchdowns? If he put up 5 TDs a game, is he entitled to leave at half time if his team needs him? Isn't he supposed to be an encourager, supporting his team when they're down?

Pulease. Everyone who has an ounce of sense knows what Dez did is wrong. Only enablers excuse his behavior.

It boggles the mind. Of all the many, many, many problems this organization has, people continue to nitpick about our most talented player who seems to care more than anyone else on the team.

It's mind boggling to you because you do what so many other enablers do. They reference major indiscretions to minimize the topic at hand, which is a minor indiscretion. Of course, Dez didn't kill anyone so by comparison this offense isn't major. But we're not comparing it to murder.

Please stop with these incongruous comparisons. They're silly.

No one is saying he's not a talented player, but we can't enable bad behavior because someone is talented. Dez shouldn't have walked off the field with time on the clock. PERIOD.
