Dez vs Sherman

Peterson could very well be the best CB in the game...but the biggest thing is that there is no such thing as a shut down corner in today's game. WRs are too good and the rules are too limiting. That's not meant as a knock on Peterson or whoever, it just is what it is.

The only guy better than him is probably Scandrick...

I have a problem with this and it's the fact that he gives up too many TDs to inferior receivers. I do agree with the rules limiting DBs and such.

Dez appeared to be a step or 2 ahead of Sherman all game, however there was no point in throwing it to him when there were more favorable match ups on the field.

Was it a sign of respect, or was it necessary due to injuries in the secondary, but for the first time in a long time, Sherman shadowed a player all second half regardless of which side he lined up on.

I this it was respect. Injury and game plan. They wanted to do what we thought they wouldn't do.
How did that work out for ya?

Its not unusual for it to look like that with Sherman. its iften intentional on his part.

There is no such thing as a shut down corner. An elite receiver will always have the upper hand over an elite corner because of the way the game is played now. Sherman is the best in the game and did about as well as you could do against a guy like Dez. Peterson, Revis, and Haden are not in Sherman's class.

It was because of injury. Was a hell of a battle. Sherman disrupted the timing a lot, but Dez beat him for a few receptions including that beauty, and drew a few penalties as well.

Hats off to both guys, but Dez was better than I thought against him. Showed some new wrinkles to his game today. Love that.
Dez being Dez.

I wrote earlier in the week - search for it if you don't believe me - that these are two guys who would be 100% respectful of the other.

We sure saw that today. Dez made plays but Sherman disrupted his routes several times. Classic matchup with both guys giving fist bumps and pats on the back at the end. I saw Sherman seek out Romo and Garrett post-game.

Sherman and Dez showed real class today.

Sherman got away with a whole lot of grabbing and holding from what I saw.

To his credit he's good at making it look like hand fighting where it looks like he's not impeding the receiver's progress. He grabs and it should be called more often, but it's certainly a skill he has.

Is he really that fast? I could understand on a comeback a curl or an out route, but Dez had a few steps on him on a few fade routes.

I dont know if he would do it with bryant, and my feed was so bad that i basically listened to tv commentary and watched a bunch of still frames, but ive definitely seen sherman do it many times.

Yea, the Revis of today. Old Revis was better than Sherman.
