Mike Fisher is reporting that the Cowboys are concerned that Dez Bryant has a disc issue in his back.

He has been held out of practice this week.

That would be terrible and a possible career long nagging injury! I sure the hell hope not!!!!

I got two herniated disks while in the Army and I struggled to run for a good year and a half before I was medically discharged. I just hope it's "spasms" that he is having vs a hernia. A part of me feels like its not a herniated disk with the way he is able to run, cut and leap (10 ft lol) for balls.

kind of make you want jerry to think long and hard on the way his next contract (if he receives one) is set up. Lately we have been getting burned.

Wasn't it Dez's back that locked up on him and prevented him from finishing the Commanders game last season?

I would get that checked out by atleast 3 top ortho docs before extending his contract.

Yes.

If he has a disc problem, I would not even think about an extension. I have two herniated discs myself, and I can't imagine dealing with that issue with all of the twisting that he does, and as physical as he is (he does not avoid hits).

With the way he moves I don't believe it's anything offseason therapy can't fix. I was dealing with disc issues all of last year it's definitely a pain but it was tolerable playing basketball. The problem is the back likely needs rest but Dez won't sit out for anything

So he didn't practice today?

I recently made a thread about if we should be concerned. Looks like we should be...

Dez is a robot that's why... they need to shove his memory banks cd in correctly next game and we won't have this Problem.
Tony Robo Will make sure of it

Dez Bryant returns to practice
Updated: November 7, 2013, 5:27 PM ET

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he did not believe Dez Bryant's sore back is a long-term issue, and the wide receiver was back on the practice field Thursday after missing Wednesday's session.

Bryant was running routes in the portion of practice open to the media. He was officially listed as limited when the Cowboys' practice report was released later Thursday.

Bryant has been bothered by a stiff back a few times this season, but it has not been as bad as it was in last year's season finale against the Washington Commanders, when he did not finish the game and needed a wheelchair to get to the team bus.

"It's bothering him a little bit off and on," Garrett said. "I don't know if it's the exact same thing, but we don't think it's a significant deal."

On Wednesday, Bryant said he would play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. A source also said the injury will not keep Bryant out of the game.

Agreed....................for the type of coin his agent is going to be asking for (top 3 WR money), I would make dam sure he did not have any significant disk problems.

Elaborating/Expanding upon my earlier post. If it's a problem for him he should sit out. Whether thats 1 week, 2 weeks, the rest of the season..so be it. Nobody questions his desire to win and his long term health is more important for him and this franchise. I like watching him play as much as anybody on the team but if sitting on the sideline getting his DeMarcus Ware on for the rest of the year is whats best for his health he should do it. And when its time to pay the man he should get every penny he deserves.

What sucks is that he hurt it in the line of service last year. If it's a disc issue, it'd be par for the course for this cursed franchise. Hopefully he gets right, back issues are no joke.

I had a friend in college with bad discs and he would pop pain killers (over the counter stuff) like they were candy. At times, the pain would be so bad that he'd throw up and just lay in bed completely miserable for days.

Good thing he is still on his rookie contract and we haven't locked him up long term!
