Dez's Passion

dez-3 games 14 catches 158 yards plus a punt return for a TD.

demaryius thomas-2 games 10 catches 140 yards 1 td.

this is going to be an interesting battle to watch.i think its going to be a neck and neck till the end.

I was thinking the same thing... I expected Dez to be really good, I hadn't seen much of Thomas in college, but I thought Denver would regret the day they picked him over Dez.. I still think Dez will prove the better player, but Thomas looks pretty good too...

As for the ROY award, Thomas will be right there, he is the 1st or 2nd passing option on his team, Dez is currently a 3rd or 4th option here... It wouldn't bother me if Dez got edged out, it will only drive him harder... Much like when Merriman got it instead of Ware, the real gem of that draft (Dez) will shine through in time...

I remember that pass he got on third down and he was a yard or two behind the first down marker. There were two defenders right there with their hands on him, and I thought "damn, we ain't getting this one". The he proceeds to juke and jive and gets the first. He should only get better too!

Let's not forget the effort that Miles Austin made to get the ball to the one yard line on his 17yd reception. it was about a 13yd reception... he powered forward for to make it a 17yd reception.

Only 2 receptions, but he and everybody else was out there fighting for everything they got.

And don't forget he is making a play like this with Bruised Ribs from the Chicago game

He was a shoelace tackle from really getting some yards on this play.

I got a friend that's a Texan fan and he was in AWW over that catch he made that was out of bounds. I think that play right there showed the world what he's capable of. He's going to be a PROBLEM when he figures out the playbook.

I'm excited about his 2 TDs that never-became TDs. He was so close on those. And he can learn a great deal about the NFL because of it. When they say it's a game of inches they mean it. But I see those 2 plays making him a stronger player in time, where future plays like that are TDs that count.

Thanks for starting this thread. I was thinking the same thing while watching the game. He is relentless. He had two possible scores yesterday. Even though they didn't count, you could see what he brings. And I love the way he doesn't back down from the trash talkers on other teams. The guy is hungry. I can't wait until he scores his first offensive TD.
How did other teams allowed him to slide deep into the 1st round of the draft is beyond me.

Dez's bruised ribs. ...

What is the timetable on getting back to near 100 percent for this injury? ... It's pretty debilitating from what I hear - breathing without pain and stuff.

So we haven't seen much of Dez at full-strength. I look forward to that ...

He hurt them vs Chicago and now we have the bye week. He should be very close by the time we play Tenn

That is what I know but most in the media made it sound as if Dez, was involved in an international incident.

The best thing about it for the Cowboys most of the teams' brass was sucked in this vaccum about him being a problem player which he is not.

This isn't really about his passion, but it's a Dez thread, so I want to talk about the thing that I think makes Dez different from the standard rookie wideouts that don't contribute a lot in their rookie years.

First, he runs much better routes than most guys his age/experience, and he seems to have a confidence like he knows how good he is. Not arrogant, but like he's never afraid to challenge and beat the guy defending him. Much like 88 before him.

Lastly of course, and it's been repeated ad nauseum, but those HANDS. He's already made quite a few clutch 3rd downs, and unlike the rookies who have to concentrate on catching it first then making a play, it's like it's just a given that if it's near him he'll catch it. Larry Fitzgerald is the only other guy in the NFL right now who has similarly natural hands, IMO.
