Some people run from the truth.

I know this was not directed towards me… But I would welcome a very detailed, and objective, analysis of how Washington’s 2024 roster was superior to Dallas‘s 2016 roster… Anyone who voted that way… I’d love to know why
I’ll give you why it’s debatable. I for one never said it was superior. But if you want a objective look il give you one.

That's a tough assignment. Anyone who can put together a quality argument there deserves props. I'm a huge believer that we over value the QB position most of the time, but there is no doubt that their 2024 team should have just been called the Washington Jayden Daniels.
I agree only partially… He was a huge part of it… No doubt about it. Though I do think he’s going to come back to earth a bit in his second season. And then he will likely continue to grow, as long as he can stay healthy with his frame..

The reason I only agree partially is because Washington could’ve been named: “Washington, the no longer Daniel Snyder’s Team”. They just had a good vibe going… And it was a long time coming for them. But they won far too many close games for me to take them seriously until I see more.

I think Jayden Daniels can be their turning point ‘long-term’… But I still have questions about his longevity in this league. If he can stay upright… He can be good.

Seeing how Daniels got his team to the NFCCG. Has to be him.

However, they were a more loaded team, then the 2016 Cowboys.
You think they were more loaded? I’m taking 16 Dallas oline, running backs, wide receivers(though that’s probably a wash) and even old man Witten. I’m taking the Cowboys secondary as well.

‘16 Cowboys had a way better roster overall. I don’t see it as being all that close
Same. I don’t think it’s particularly close either. That said, the commanders had the better season seeing as that they won two games in the postseason but that wasn’t the question. The better team was Dallas quite easily.

The defense wasn’t great, which is why we went one and done at home in the playoffs. The defense got us beat in the end. Having several All-Pros and the rushing leader doesn’t matter. It’s the end result that matters. The Cowboys had a great regular season team in 2016, but folded in the playoffs, resulting in a one and done at home. While Washington went on the road to win two playoff games, including against the number one seed.

They made it farther in the playoffs than the Cowboys have been in 30 years. Their 2024 team was better than the Cowboys 2016 team when it was all said and done. The better regular season team doesn’t always win it all. The true test of how good a team is comes in the playoffs when it matters most.
I would argue that Washington got somewhat lucky in the playoffs. They barely beat a Detroit team that was missing 8 starters on defense, then was crushed by a complete Philly team that set a record by scoring 55 points in a NFCCG.

2016 Cowboys was a better overall team, but in the end it didn't matter. Was Washington a better team than the Ravens or Bills last year? I doubt you'd say yes, but the results were the same.

I picked the Cowboys. I came in late, so I didn't see the original question. But I notice a lot of people talking about who got further, whether it be a QB or a team. I hope everyone does recognize that not every team's path to the SB is created equal, right?

Both the Cowboys and Eagles had to beat the Giants in 2007 and 2022 to get to the NFCCG. Those two Giants teams were light years apart in talent. You can't say that Eagles team was better solely based on that.

I don’t call winning 45-31 as barely beating Detroit. Plus, Washington did it on the road. Detroit’s defense might have been without some people, but their offense was lethal. Despite the missing players on defense, they still won 15 games. Washington lost to the Ravens during the regular season, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have beaten them in the playoffs. As for Buffalo they keep coming up short in postseason. They’ve been a great regular season team that’s had their problems in the playoffs against KC. I would pick them against Washington, but that doesn’t mean they would win. Heading into the playoffs I thought Detroit had the best team in the entire league, with Philly a close second but losing their top defensive player really hurt them.

This isn’t even close.

Dak had three 1st team All-Pros on the OLine.

Zeke won the rushing title by 300 yards.

Dez and Witten, older, but still useful.

The defense wasn’t great, but neither was Washington’s last year.
Fully agree.
2016 Cowboys was a far stronger overall team except Washington had the better quarterback.
