That was the worst display of "disciplinary" action I've ever seen. The team is down an obscene amount and Bill is angry at his punter for shanking the kick. Ugh. What the hell? The punter was the least of his problems.

Would you have liked Parcells to pat McBriar on the back and say "We'll get em next time, tiger?" Gimme a break

I hope you're wrong, or at least that Parcells was only venting and didn't really mean it, because McBriar has real talent -- current slump or no current slump.

Or maybe he was thinking of Cundiff when he said it. :)

Parcells doesn't get a kick out of Cundiff, McBriar

11:49 PM CST on Sunday, December 18, 2005

By MATT MOSLEY / ***BANNED-URL***

LANDOVER, Md. – Add the Cowboys' kicking game to the long list of what went wrong in Sunday's 35-7 loss to the Commanders.

As a final indignity, kicker Billy Cundiff had to wait several minutes to get to his locker in the cramped visitors' locker room.

Almost three hours earlier, when the game's outcome was still in doubt, Cundiff pushed a 38-yard field goal attempt wide right. Trailing 7-0 at that point, the Cowboys didn't pose a serious threat the rest of the day.

The snap by rookie L.P. Ladouceur was high, but holder Tony Romo appeared to get it down in plenty of time.

"Honestly, it's a 38-yard field goal," said Cundiff, who missed a costly 34-yard attempt against Denver on Thanksgiving. "You can analyze it all you want, but it should have been made."

Meanwhile, punter Mat McBriar was having his worst day of the season. After McBriar's 15-yard shank late in the third quarter, Bill Parcells appeared to tell special teams coach Bruce DeHaven that McBriar was "gone."

McBriar said Parcells didn't say anything to him directly, but he wondered aloud about his job security after the game.

"We'll see if I have to come in tomorrow," McBriar said, with a wry smile.

Of his 24-yard punt late in the first half, McBriar said, "I almost whiffed on that one."

The former Australian Rules football player punted so poorly that he almost seemed amused.

Parcells said during training camp that he thought McBriar had a shot at the Pro Bowl. And Friday, he said he was pleased with McBriar's progress.

The players are off today, so McBriar might have to wait a day to make sure his locker isn't empty.

So now Mosley is a lip-reader? Whether he ends up being right or not, that's just irresponsible reporting. There are some things that are obvious from reading lips, but the word "gone" is not one of them.

Gee it was 4th and 1, no way that Parcells said, "We should have GONE for it," nope that makes too much sense.

Oh and Mosley is an idiot of Prisco proportions.

How about Bill get onto Bledsoe for all his incredibly stupid mistake?

Oh yeah, that's right.. Bledsoe is one of the "Parcell's Guys" and can do no wrong.

If that was the case, why would he be saying that to Dehaven?

Could it be because we just ran a special teams play and he was standing right beside him the entire time?

It's not like he chased him 30 yards down the bench to say anything.

People see what they want to see, and Mosley is looking for a story.

It's just that if he would be yelling at anyone and saying we should have gone for it on fourth down, I think it'd be Payton.

After a 15 yard punt I would probably break out the tea set and maybe a crumpet or two and sit down with the punter on a job well done.

McBriar said he almost wiffed on the ball? That's pathetic.

we've had punter problems for a while, no way parcells gets rid of McBriar, the only decent punter we've had in a while, for a bad game...

it was obvious at that point in time that the team was wanting out of that situation, and not the good ole fashioned way of working hard to get back in the game..

parcells won't want to add to the list of problems we have by getting rid of one of the decent players we have right now..

i'm a big believer in the sophomore slump, newman last year, mcbriar this last game, JJ this year, i'm just hoping all our rookies don't go into one next year

My guess is that BP said something like "Should've gone for it", it would look about the same.

NY and Washington both had one thing in common - they looked like teams playing with confidence trying to win while Dallas of late has looked like a team trying not to lose. Funny, when you focus on a positive , you have a better chance to achieve it and when you focus on a negative, you have a better chance to achieve it, too.

Boy, this OL stinks even worse than in recent years. Sigh, maybe in this off-season, BP will do something about it.

Actually they looked like team's with much, much better offensive lines than we have.

Funny how when you have more talent you seem to have a sunny outlook on life.
