I hate the guy and wanted to hear him try backtracking on everything he's said about the Cowboys lately,,, unfortunately every time something good comes up on KTCK somebody walks into my office.

Usually most of his praise came in the form of backhanded compliments,,,

Backhanded compliment from the Goose??? In other words, his standard way of paying a compliment. Basically we could just say "compliment" and by definition, everyone would know it's of the backhanded variety. Lol.

He had them at 28th to start the season. He can repeat what he's told about the draft. Outside of that dude is a bitter anger muffin.

He was on with Norm this morning. He ranks Dallas 3rd in the NFL, and says they are for real. He says that they have a winning formula in Dak and Zeke. He says Zeke is what makes the whole thing work. Dak protects the ball and Zeke controls the clock. He says, the only way teams can stop the run is if they sell out. Doing this would make things easier for Dak who would pick them apart. So, pick your poison. Says, Wentz is struggling now because there's enough film on him where opponents know what he can't do, and can now scheme against him. However, what Dak is doing can't be schemed against. He's fundamentally sound, sees the whole field, makes good decisions, and protects the ball. You can't scheme against a QB that does that and has Zeke to lean on. Says, if Romo was back, Romo would have similar success with Zeke, as long as Romo could stay healthy.

Agreed.

But if Romo does come back with the play calling be switched.

Dang,,, that actually sounded reasonable and respectful. I've come to expect more snide comments from the little bugger.

thanks!

I have it from good authority that Dak has been terrible....and we're lucky to have this OL & Zeke masking his mistakes. Then our D helped Dak by not giving up TD's & getting turnovers.

So, Dak isn't all that.....better yet he's lucked into his stats & role

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I just can't understand why you all get worked up over the Gosselins, S.A.S's and Skip Baylesses of the world.
Some are just giving their honest opinions; the others are trying to stir up controversy because the Cowboys draw ratings and clicks.

As an aside, you ever notice how on Sunday Night Football during the highlights before the game, they almost ALWAYS leave the Cowboys highlights for last. They did that after the Bengals win and the Green Bay win.

When you realize what the deal is, you just don't get as upset when you see it - at least I don't.

Understanding what they're doing doesn't mean you have to enjoy it.

Thanks for the summary.

Dak has a couple of things Wentz doesn't have:
1. A running back like Zeke
2. An offensive line like the Cowboys
3. A compact sturdiness like Dak (Wentz is taller but I don't think he has the compact density like Dak. Dak is a solid quarterback, along the lines of Steve McNair and Donovan McNabb. Those guys almost never got hurt.)
4. The read-option threat (This is one element Dak has over Romo too).

The good thing about Dak with regards to the read-option is that because he's such a pocket quarterback, teams don't know when he'll employ it. So you can't really plan for it because it's not a normal part of his arsenal. He pulls it out every now and then, and usually when he does, big things happen.

They're running on the same formula as in 2014.
Dominate the line, run it down their throats, and give the QB an easier go of it. Let the D play with a lead and get some turnovers.

2014: led the league in rushing, QB led the league in efficiency (113.4 rating, etc), team scored at a 29.4 ppg clip, dominated the clock, got leads, defense got turnovers.
two 5 or more game win streaks

2016: lead the league in rushing, QB very efficient (103.9 rating, etc) team is scoring at a 26.5 ppg clip, dominating the clock, getting leads, defense getting turnovers...
already one active 5 game win streak...

I think this years D is better though.

Great recipe.

Playbook almost the same but used a bit differently.

#2 and #3 is an outstanding observation on Dak and the play calling.

I would agree with some of that....but let's not pretend the cupboard in Philly is bare.

Their OL is not on our level, but it's still solid. Having one of the game's best LTs is a great start. They also have solid, but not great runners. Sproles is a heckuva threat.

I could say the same about 90%(or more) of every successful QB in the history of this league.

Put Brady in Cleveland the last 15 years, he would be just another guy.

How is Rodgers looking lately? Not quite as good since the talent level around him has dipped.
