Did anyone notice how good the D looked without Lee

The defense looked very nice and it was WITHOUT Lee. We always fall to pieces when he is gone, but Smith and Joe Thomas locked it down. Thats is great because when Lee comes back you know he is going to be great. The defense is going to be good. Datone Jones is a good player but he isn't like David Irving. Once we get Irving back and in shape the pass rush will be killer. David Irving does morebthan sack the qb , he bats down and tips passes and if he isn't doing that he makes the qb have to throw the ball higher up. He makes a huge difference. We need him back for the defense to be elite.

Knocks on wood, but looks like we have depth at LB for once. And the starter(s) next to Lee aren't half retired.

Thomas is much better than any backup LB we have had in the last few years. There would obviously be a drop off if Lee got hurt or was out, but that drop off won't nearly be as great as it has been in the past.

In other LB news, Damien Wilson is and always will be a total enigma to me. I had higher opinions on him than most, I would guess, but at times he shows speed and solid play and then other times, you are like, "what the hell was he thinking". But as a 5th LB? Not bad.

Unfortunately both are longshots IMO to suit up for the 2018 Dallas Cowboys. But yeah, I agree with your statement.
