Did Dak bet too hard on himself?

he had a bad game against TB

He got hurt

Let's wait on making generalizations until we see what he does over the next month of games. How he handles this bit of adversity (injury, little bit of controversy, extra pressure to perform) will tell us a ton about him.

Buckle up, the next month is going to tell you a lot about this man

I agree with this 1000%

Dak never had to bet on himself b/c he makes around 50M a year in endorsements. Being the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys is a huge perk and Dak fully cashed in even before his huge contract was signed. People think "oh poor Dak, he is so underpaid and betting on himself." BS. He could play the game of contract chicken with Jerry b/c he had plenty of income. All he had to do to max out his value is put up numbers and wait.

First off, I'm a supporter of one Dak Prescott.

It feels like jerry and Dak are not on short dial.

Now that Cooper has drove the bus with the rest of the team to a 4-2 start, now enters Prescott.

The only answer to the next two games is 2-0 or God help this forum.

Time to shine Dak.

The hard truth is Dak is a good QB, like Cousins, better than Jimmy G. These level of players need to be coached hard, they need to be strict bus drivers.
They have a floor and a ceiling. They will never be a Burrow or Herbert, and there is no shame in that.

yep, I'm good with that.

Dak seems to play better when he feels he has something to prove. I hope that holds true for this season.

What I meant was, Did he push the envelope to a place where he can't deliver? Based on his salary.
The answer depends strictly on what his goal is. If he is determined to make a ton of money and doesn't care about winning, then he won. If his goal is a deep playoff run, then he lost badly.

Watching Dak Hater's implode is glorious..

Reminiscent of Landry's Congregation that left the Cowboys for dead:lmao2:

Bad misread. The worry is about putting a team together, which becomes instrumentally tougher when one player is taking up huge chunks of the allotted salary money. Almost no one cares about his personal money.
and jerry has shown you he is willing to spend when he has it? Its not my cash IDGAF I do however expect a better performance. not because of cash but because he is the starter and the rest of the team is reliant on it. As he is reliant on the rest of the team. Money appears to be the reason as so many state its importance

Wait. I’m still confused. Is winning a team or QB stat? Or it depends on who the QB is?

While there may be a few fans who think that Rush was awesome, I think the primary message was that Dallas can win games with a mediocre at best QB as long as they aren't making glaring mistakes. That kind of sets a bar for Dak, albeit a low one.

yep, I'm good with that.
Our best hope is Flacco. And that is not an easy task, Flacco had a history of playoff wins with the Ravens even before the SB.
Go all the way back to 1990 think of all the QB's who were not super stars and won a SB

Jeff Hostetler.. Lol.. remember him...???
Mark Rypien
Dilfer
Brad Johnson
Flacco
Nick Foles

Just some food for thought

Yep, great post. And these are EXACTLY the type of examples of whom they need him to play like in order for team success.

My primary doubt is based on Prescott not being able to stick with the conservative run heavy game plan in order to try and prove his contract and satisfy his own ego.

If he can get over himself to the point of being the overpaid busdriver that he needs to be than this TEAM will have success. Humbling one's self for the sake of the team is the smart route here.

If he goes out all pass happy trying to disprove all his critics wrong while talking all his s*** than the TEAM will lose as it always has.

Dependence on defense, run game and special teams.

Up to Dak to find the proper balance and not audible to passes as he has done in the past.

We'll see if he's capable of playing in a manner that's best for team success or a continued personal quest for ego and stats.

NFC is wide open. The opportunity is not gonna get much easier than this year.

Prove me and others here who doubt you wrong, Prescott.

I'll have my crow medium well.

so many people worried bout money that isnt theirs lol
Never got that complaint lol. Like you don’t pay him yourself why care what he makes? Salary caps are maneuverable and rarely is one contract so inflated that it restricts a team significantly.

What does this have to do w dak betting on himself. You think he got hurt on purpose? This thread makes no sense.

Does any player worry about more money more pressure to perform? They could care less. Neither would I.

What I do not agree with is the venom toward Prescott for his contract. They had to agree to it and he is not responsible for managing the cap.

Teams too blind and incompetent miss the Steelers story. 60% of their offense wanted to be paid like that because of what they were paying the QB and WR.

The Joneses think they can overpay for marginal talent and not have that ripple effect the team. When they acquiesced to Elliott, they set the wheels in motion.

The real error in blaming Prescott is the assumption the money saved would have been spent on better FA's.
