Did Dak say he is the best QB 2026? Plus, what is his true motivation!

Cowboys players who are among the greatest athletes in the world, at least to my personal standard and definitions. The only one I was able to say right off, without giving it a thought, was Bob Hayes. Then Guys like Larry Allen, who could bench press 700 lbs, who was fast enough to run people down and so forth, deserve to be there. Probably Emmitt Smith in his superbowl years. Wide Receivers deserve to be candidates because those guys are in great shape usually, well toned and could be on Body builder mags. Like Miles Austin before he started getting hamstring injuries a case could be made for since he had amazing speed, route running capabilities, very muscular and so forth. But like I said case can be made not automatic things. Then some greats wouldn't make the list.

Im glad you mentioned boxing. Have we ever seen an interview of a fighter saying he's NOT the best fighter in the world in his weight class?

How high in the card are we talking about? :) I mean, if a glass jaw joe type boxer would make those kind of claims, he would get widely mocked and the commentators would joke about it during the broadcast, would they not?

Well striving to be the best is a good goal. But yeah, running your mouth when you can't yet back it up, is dumb.

Certainly Eli has two of the three wins against him in the big game. But that is different than being a better overall QB. Peyton is a better overall QB than Eli but Eli is a better big game QB than Peyton.

Either way, you wouldn't hear Peyton or Eli say they were the best. That's really how I got into this whole discussion. When you clearly aren't the best, keep your mouth closed. If you are the best, keep your mouth closed. People know the truth either way.

Was Peyton really better than Eli? Could be debatable according to how quarterbacks are judged league wide on this forum.

Again, I respect what you're saying but I do not believe Dak really feels he's the best quarterback in the NFL. That whole statement came across as the mindset that he's adopted for himself. There are many athletes across the professional sports spectrum that has stated that they believe they are the best and weren't the best.

This has happened before Dak was born and it will happen long after Dak is gone. I don't have a problem with the mindset if an individual feels thats the motivation they need to be the best they can be.

And therein lies the problem.

How can one not really feel like he's the best but yet publicly claim that he feels likes he's the best? How can that be taken seriously? Like I said earlier in this thread. It comes across as what is. A psychological parlor trick.

If he benefits from standing in front of the mirror and telling himself he's the best to build his confidence then so be it. No problem. Whatever works. It enters another realm when those self-reassurances are made into a microphone for public consumption.

You tell yourself but show everyone else.

I get what he meant but he is as clumsy in these situations as he is when trying to get outside when the pocket collapses.

I could be wrong but I think it's a general statement that every player in the NFL feels. It's more a confidence thing: if you don't believe you are good enough to beat the guy in front of you, you have lost the game before it even started.

But I agree, it appears he is taking a different leadership approach this season. I mean, he's writing some serious checks......intentional or not.
 
Was reading all this stuff about the greatest athletes in the world and if you took all NFL players right now and have them try to become a Navy Seal, maybe, maybe 10 or 20 of them might make it. Those are not just great athletes, they are warriors. Every cycle in the Navy, there are about 100 or so great shaped men who try to become a Seal, and mayby 10 will make it.

There was a question that was asked awhile back, if you took 10 of the best running backs and 10 Navy Seals, who would win a fight?

Foot ball players are just that, football players, and they are not the best athletes in the world, fact.

Who do you think Brady would think or say is better? Did Belichick say Peyton or Eli was the best quarterback he has ever coached against?

Well im definitely not surprised. The "Patriot Way" was a team oriented franchise theme instilled by Belichick. So again, im not surprised.

Im not sure to both of your questions. Eli Manning was a big part of both Super Bowl wins with the Giants. Peyton was a big part of the Colts Super Bowl win, but got carried to a Superbowl win with the Broncos.

Exactly.... people are acting like Dak pounded the table and said he his hands down, the clear cut best quarterback in the league.

Thats far from what he did, but those who will exaggerate will do just that.

Depends on how you measure athleticism. Is it speed? Jumping? Fighting? A combination of many criteria? You can say it is very subjective based on how you view it.

Because there are no repercussions ....... he can say anything he wants because at the end of the day it does not matter ...... Jerry is still gonna pay him because he is comfortable.

Well the second question, really more a statement of fact: Belichick said that Peyton was the greatest quarterback he's ever played against. There also that people of the time saw Peyton as being Elite and people generally didn't question it when people said so.
