I don't think Elvis ever performed outside the US. None of my friends know the answer.

Did Elvis ever perform outside the US? I know he performed in Hawaii, that was the closest he got to Asia. He had a huge following in Japan. Why didn't he ever perform in Japan?

If not, anyone guess as to why he didn't perform in Asia or Europe?

I can't say for sure but he was stationed in Germany while in the Army so I can't imagine he wouldn't have performed then.

I was one of his biggest fans back in the day.
I would not argue the fact but in my opinion I would say it was insecurity that kept him pretty much Graceland bound.
Home, is where he felt safest.
The people around him were not the most intelligent about foriegn travel etc. and he was making so much money right where he was that no one pushed it. Priscilla was pretty much the smartest insider he had and she was so much younger than all the men around she probably got shoved aside etc. Who really knows.
He had a loving , giving heart but not a lot of worldly intellegience.
And of course an unbelieveable talent.
To my knowledge he never got further away than Hawaii.

Oh yeah. If she hadn't turned Graceland in to a tourist site his legacy would have been long gone.

I have lived in Memphis all my life and only been there once and only because my inlaws wanted to go.

As I said I am a long time fan. I have been to the house three times.
I'm to old to go again, but Pricilla done the job saving it up right. It has been a pleasure for a lot of people.

Elvis Presley Enterprises was supposed to be turned over to Lisa Marie several years ago but she wisely left it in Priscilla's hands.

You can even use his image without EPE's approval and they are ruthless about it. :laugh1:

I heard that she is credited for saving his e$tate. Not true? You tell me? I remember hearing someone was offering her very little to "take it off her hands"

Also... his legacy would have been affected in some way if someone outside the family had control of his estate when gone.

Of course I dont mean HIS LEGACY!!!

April, 1957

While touring with his show, Elvis performs outside the United States for the first time when he appears in Canada: two shows in Toronto on April 2nd, and two shows in Ottowa on April 3rd.

August 31, 1957

Elvis performs in Vancouver. This is the 3rd Canadian city he has performed in, and marks the last time he will perform in concert outside the United States.

There ya go....

He had very little money when he died so yes she saved his estate and built his image in to what it is today.

Huge Elvis fan.

He only performed in Canada in the 50s -- that's it.

The rumor is that Col. Tom Parker -- who was actually an illegal alien -- didn't want to travel to Europe out of fear of being deported.
