While I have no sympathy for Pacman Jones whatsoever, I find it pretty interesting how harsh Goddell is being with him when he let the Pats off with a slap on the wrist and continues to turn a blind eye to all the cheating Belicheck and New England were a part of.

There's really not a valid reason not to reinstate him. He already made an example of him. Call him a thug or lowlife but he still has no convictions. Innocent til proven guilty or is it the other way around? And that is regardless of where he goes. Can you SAY GOBBLE GOBBLE?!!!:laugh1:

This is getting stupid. Honestly, the punishment is not fitting the crime. There are felons in the NFL who have been suspended less time and to keep things up in the air like this is just stupid.

I like how Goddel has slammed Pacman and keeps him down while he let's the pats skate off, now tell me, who has hurt the league worse, pacman or the Cheatriots?

JJ is just as if not more powerful in the NFL as Boston's brass is. We are the bellcow of the league.

Also this is old news. We will see. i think Goodell is a putz stinging this out like this.

Goodell isn't the one stringing this out. Right from the start he said he would wait until just before training camp to revisit Adam Jones' suspension. It is Jones who is making this an issue by talking it up and wanting to be reinstated earlier.

That doesn't mean Goodell isn't a putz, just not for this. He should have banned Belichick and Adam Jones for life and none of this would be an issue.

Goodell is playing hardball with Pacman=and that is as it should be. When you have screwed up as much as he has you SHOULD get no slack at all.
Goodell is the worse thing to happen to the NFL in years. anybody who reads this forum knows im no fan of pacman. in fact im against the cowboys trying to get him. but the guy has been suspended a year. how much is to much? while coming down hard on players. this guy has let guys like Bill Belichick off with a slap on the wrist. i have posted here for a while that this clown is anti-cowboy. he is a norteastern pro new york guy. and it shows in his actions.

I agree but I wonder why he is making the statements public at all. I was wondering if that was a subtle way of saying, pacman is sitting out another year.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

He was asked the question. He didnt have to answer it I guess but I think that would have caused more specualtion.

Exactly... and by he, I mean Goodell. That guy has a hidden agenda and can not be trusted. This is the one man congress SHOULD be investigating.
I find it ironic that Goodell is so hardline against Pacman but his decision about the Pats getting caught red-handed was quick and was not harsh at all.
To me that seems like a double-standard.
Throw in the fact that he immediately ordered the evidence be destroyed...I think he over-reacted to the Patriots cheating and wanted to avoid at all costs what happened to the NBA with thier whole league being questioned with the ref fixing games.

I'm going through this thread and wondering whats up with all this anti Goodell talk. Thanks for reminding me of the large anti-northeast sentiment that always has and always will populate this board.

IMO, I looked at it differently in that Goodell is doing what Jerry wants. The Titans want more than Jerry wants to pay so if Goodell doesn't reinstate Pacman until right before training camp i.e. June, then the value for Pacman goes down.

The closer to the draft we go then the less the Titans are going to get for him. Wouldn't surprise me to see a deal between Goodell and Jones about I'll reinstate him for the last minicamp if you help me on a couple of other projects.

Lest we forget, Goodell has brought in Jones to fix the problem with the cable companies for NFL Network so expect a tit or tat thing.

If I'm Goodell, who would you want on your side the Titans owner or Jones.

You are right on the money. this guy was a terrible hire by the NFL. he is not who they thought he were when they hired this fool. plus in my opinion he's anti-cowboys and pro-New york.

Goodell's decision is good news for the Cowboys if they want to aquire him from the Titans. Becasue Goodell's statement just lowered Jone's value even more. The Titans just lost some leverage.

Remember that when Goodell suspended Pacman it was an indefinate suspension. That he is even going to consider reviewing Pacman's situation after 15 months is doing Pacman a favor.

I think too many on this board see Goodell's actions as pro-northeastern, pro-NY & antiCowboy.

His statement is same he made in the owners meeting; he just reimphasized it again. It's a warning to take nothing for granted & lowers even more any perceived Titan leverage. Jerry holds the trump card cause he's the only bidder, Pacman a huge risk & who knows if/when Goodell reinstates him.

He made them public cause he was asked by reporters about it at the owners meetings.

Goodell is just being a dictator. I think Pacman has a good legal case vs the NFL if the suspension goes beyond 1 year. Pacman has hinted legal action to follow if he is not reinstated.

At some point, Goodell has to realize that the suspension just isn't worth it financially. The NFL's legal fees alone would probably run a couple of million. And a legal loss would cost probably $5-10 million more. It ain't worth the risk financially.

Pac Man is a low end turd.

Goodell is a high end turd.

I will say this... not sure if Pac deserves to be reinstated... but if is going to be reinstated it should be in time for teams to line their ducks up. Who is Goodell to make a player miss team activities etc.

Let him back in time to be completely involved with team or not.

Its that simple.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Roger Goodell is trying to institute morals and ethics into a medium where none necessarily have to be there.

There is no rule stating that a player has to be a choir boy to play in the NFL. Should a player not be as such, his off-the-field actions are to be dealt with by the team, not by a commissioner whose job is merely to regulate the league. The owners have all the say in who plays for their team, not Goodell.

He can enforce league rules, not team rules.

The only reason players are getting cut is because they would rather not have a financial obligation to the player if and while he is suspended.

What a player does off the field is his business, not Goodell's. Saying that it is Goodell's is stating that the NFL is no longer a place welcome for anyone. It's saying that this is a league full of professional athletes who know how to stay out of trouble and be upstanding citizens.

I just think that it's BS.
