Anyone know?

I don't really care about Jefferson per se. But I can't stand loose ends.

Right now I'd prefer having someone to call upon who the coaches know and knowes the offense.

Wide receiver Mike Jefferson, who was released Monday to make room on the 53-man roster for third quarterback Brooks Bollinger, has cleared the 24-hour waiver period without being claimed by another team. He is expected to re-sign with the Cowboys practice squad before Wednesday's 1:15 p.m. (CDT) workout.

Sorry didn't make myself clear. Yes. Jefferson is ahead of Amendola.
I really wonder if that's the case... It's certainly not definitive.

1) Jefferson didn't see a snap at WR in the first game.

2) I think we knew we would be signing Bollinger before Jefferson was called up.

3) That means we knew we would have to cut someone.

I think that an argument could be made that we brought up Jefferson in case we had someone out of TO, Crayton and Stanback get hurt, but with the intent that we would be cutting that guy again after the game if everything turned out okay.

I don't think they necessarily brought up the best guy, since Jefferson didn't see a snap, at least not one I remember seeing. Maybe they think Amendola is ahead of Jefferson but didn't want to risk exposing him to waivers again, unlike Jefferson.

I certainly don't think it's open and shut that Jefferson is ahead of Amendola. It's arguable IMO.

I think the fact that Jefferson was made active whereas Amendola was not is an indication that Jefferson is, in fact, considered "ahead" of Amendola.

Does counsel not concur?

I'd agree it's very arguable. I'm basing it on watching them and the fact they used Jefferson and not Amendola to backup the WRs. But they could be afraid to expose Amendola again however either way you look at it someone has to put him on their 53 to pull him off our PS. So any of the other 31 teams can grab him at anytime as long as he agrees with a contract. So I'm not certain how subjecting him to waivers makes it any worse.

Good point. He's still unprotected as a PS guy. Forgot that.

Nevermind ;)

Practice squad update

Wide receiver Mike Jefferson cleared waivers and most likely will return to the Cowboys' practice squad. Jefferson was brought up to the active roster last Saturday so the Cowboys could have at least four healthy wide receivers for the season opener.

But Jefferson was cut when the team signed quarterback Brooks Bollinger yesterday. Jefferson had some other offers, but feels the Cowboys are a better fit for him because he can learn from wide receivers coach Ray Sherman and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

There's also a chance the Cowboys could add an offensive lineman to the practice squad.

As of right now here's the practice squad:

Danny Amendola, Alonzo Coleman, Julius Crosslin, Rodney Hannah, Tearrius George, Marcus Dixon and when he signs tomorrow, Jefferson.

Jefferson clearly ahead of Amendola for #6 WR.

If we add Jefferson and Oline - very good chancy Danny cets cut from practice squad.

Must be sad to be obsessed and not have that obsession reciprocated.

ah, the old martyr/paranoid syndrome

seems it's always the worst posters who are afflicted w/ it
