Did Jeremy Parnell take Free's spot?

I think both are free agents. Parnell played well when it counted most. Free will cost more and he's older. What say you?

No, Free will be the starter next year unless a better options falls into their lap.

Agreed. I think Parnell would merit a bigger salary out in free agent land.

You're right. Some will be gone.

Others like Ro McClain and Murray earned a contract from the Cowboys that is going to be smaller than what they thought they were going to get a few games ago.

Just my opinion, but I think that both McClain and Murray played their last games as Cowboys today.

Why would you move an all-pro OG to OT if you don't have to?

Because OT's are FAR more valuable than OG's. Our All Pro OG is probably also an All Pro RT. I'd rather have an All Pro OT than an All Pro OG.

Why not? He played OT in college. It's his natural position. Why wouldn't we move him to RT?

Because he played at a Pro Bowl level at RG as a rookie.

I'm not messing with that, especially when my RT options aren't terrible right now.

I'll address one possible question mark, but not create another.

Key word (in bold), I'd rather not find out. RT's are easy to come by, and we don't need an all-pro at every position. Free and Parnell have proven that the position can be filled by less than all-pro type players.

See, I'm not interested in 'probably'.

A bird in the hand.

I think one will be drafted.

Just not prior to the 4th round.

At the back end of 1st or 2nd round a tackle may be the highest rated player. I know that they have holes galore along the defense, but if a tackle is far and away the highest rated player I could see them pulling the trigger. Wouldn't be a popular pick but it wouldn't surprise me. I think anyway you cut it this is going to be one of the most pivotal off-seasons in memory.

Nor me.

And I'd do it without hesitation.

As good as the offensive line is, it can still be even better.

I think Murray's new team is playing right now.

(Not Denver)

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. They seem to be a running game away from taking that next step on offense. Having said that, he wouldn't have nearly the holes in Indianapolis that he had this year.

Oh I agree.

If an OT was clearly the highest rated player at the end of round 1, I would think the Cowboys would take him.

Martin could be scary good with better tackle play. I know he was good this year, but with a more dominant tackle to his right he could approach Larry Allen type dominance. Your take?

No, but he'd have the $$$ that he's after.

When big money is offered, players will convince themselves of all kinds of things.

Both he and the Colts will feel that he's the last missing piece they need.

Just like the Vikings did with Herschel Walker.

A Pro Bowler as a rookie?

Yeah, sky's the limit.

If keep Parnell if the money is the same as Free, but I would draft my long term option as well, even as high as the first round if the value is there.

Truly create a dominating, overpowering offensive line.

No way either of them will come off the bench. The Cowboys O-line got so much praise this year. You don't think other teams in the league are salivating over the idea of getting a starter from this O-line? Those guys will demand money. I can see Free taking a cheap contract out of loyalty to the team. But someone would definitely be willing to pay him. And I think Parnell showed he can be a starter in this league. I can see him leaving to take more money. He's young-ish, have freakish athletic ability, and has played both tackle positions. And I'm not sure there will be a better RT available in free agency. And I don't trust our luck continuing with getting another rookie to come in and be a quality starter. I see us keeping the cheaper one of Free and Parnell.

Totally agree except I can't see Free taking a home team contract when this is his last chance at a huge payday. The difference could be 10 or 20 million dollars. I think you will see Parnell resigned quickly and articles written very soon after that Free is looking for a bigger salary than he has now - which he will get somewhere.
