Did our GM even ask Eberflus?

Have we seen a poll, oh let's call it by its proper name shall we. Let's call it, who do you think is the worst GM in the NFL?

Did our GM even ask Eberflus during his interview for DC about his schemes and how they might fit in with our current personnel? Any decent GM would have known to ask that.

Or maybe our GM never asked that because the owner did the interview instead and based his decision on his comfort level with the coach. In other words the owner but his own comfort level ahead the best choice based upon our current players.

So yeah, in the cowboys organization, GM jerry is overridden by owner jerry. What could go wrong?
He was our line backers coach at one time we knew him well

All Jerry asks his employees if the have knee pads with stars on them.

As a GM you should know he is a passive average 4-3 DC who plays zone. Our biggest weapon was Micah whose best position would be 3-4 OLB and we have CBs who cant play zone and are bad tacklers. Should never have even interviewed Eberflus. Should have got an aggressive 3-4 DC and resigned Micah and a real NT

If we had done that we would be talking of a run deep into playoffs with this offense.

I see players that aren't buying into the scheme. It's also up to the coach to SELL the players on buying into the scheme. I'm trying not to overreact, but I think this is a bad hire.

The Eagles offense hasn't looked good yet. Hurts has not been playing at a high level.
Most teams go into the season thinking about winning enough games to make the playoffs. Teams like Baltimore, Buffalo, Tampa Bay, and particularly Philadelphia, are only trying to win one game. The next one.

Their offense is going to look like it has all season long. Unfortunately so will their defense.

Absolutely not! Lol

Jerry Jones is not a real GM in the true sense of the word historically in professional sports.

Jerry went to the bargain bin and amazingly overpaid.

The defense did look decent against the Eagles. Then the Giants game disaster struck.
Fantastic 2nd half against Philly, but we were quick to forget that Philly in the 1st half went 3 drives, 30 plays, 216 yards, 3TDs.

So far this season the defense has one good half under its belt and is averaging 30.5ppg.

Scoring drives against Dallas (excluding end of game/end of half time runout)
  • Vs Phi - 4/7 drives resulted in points
  • Vs NYG - 7/12 drives resulted in points
The big difference seems to be game pace. On a per drive basis we are giving up points at a similar rate each game.

This would be a HC thing, since Schotty assembled his own staff.

Not only that but was instrumental in helping Marinelli transition us from the 3-4 Rob Ryan had us in to a 4-3 and came over with Rob Ryan. So he has had experience transitioning defenses. It was one really bad game on defense, so lets see what happens going forward. Lets just never let him control the timeouts.

As you know, it's match ups that are king. Giants matchup very well offensively with us. Couple that with the injury ie missing key starters in the back end, it was easy pickins. Don't ask me what Diggs was doing. Lol...but I think he needs to be playing man coverage. Also, he looks slower. I'm wondering if he's right mentally or physically. Wasn't just him, it was Elam too. Our safeties were also awful. Flus better scrap that scheme.
Well said. Giants do match up well with us.
