Did Romo make Robinson better?

So I'm thinking about the Robinson situation and the more I think about it the more I am not as concerned a I was about losing him. I mean, I would still want to have him back because I think he and Romo had a good rapport going but the truth is he was with a few other teams and he didn't pan out.

I'm thinking that maybe it as Romo who made him stand out and he needs this kind of QB to be at his full potential. With that said, maybe getting a guy like Doucet or Royal wouldn't be such a bad thing considering the money that will now be thrown at Robinson.

Romo made Robinson, period. Robinson didn't just magically flip a switch when he got here.

A lot of their plays were from Romo buying more time and Robinson readjusting from his original route. (Which happened way too much overall imo)

Yes he did. He makes everybody better. He makes the Oline look better then it is, he makes the defense look better because we are always in games until the end etc. He's our best player by a mile with no offense to Ware.

Absolutely! Romo is very good at finding secondary targets when his primary is covered. Robinson was a great secondary target.

There is no denying, however, that Robinson has talent. He can be a #2 somewhere and he knows it.

Well said

I guess we will find out how good he is when Blaine Gabbert is throwing to him! Yikes!

Or Tebow. Double yikes!

You can count on never hearing about Robinson ever again if Romo's not throwing to him.

I'll see your Robinson and raise you Austin.

I think Austin is pedestrian without Romo as well.

Romo 100% makes Miles also. I agree. Miles is nothing if Tony's not throwing to him.

Romo had a lot to do with it, no doubt. I think some would be shocked at how many holes he covers for us.
You may even argue that he made Austin as well.

But anyone who has watched a healthy Robinson in the past could see the guy's potential.

My issue--and we keep seeming to overlook it--is where do we play him if we do sign him?

His playing time mostly came due to injuries to either of our starting WRs. Where would we play him? He is not a slot receiver and Miles and Dez claim the X and Y positions. So we will be paying him for essentially a WR4 roll. Granted, backup WRs have more value with us due to our starters tendency to get hurt all the time...but still.
Maybe some of you think Miles would be in the slot?

This is now essentially my thinking. I want to resign Robinson and he is a very capable #3 and fill in for the other WRs spots if they go down, but I don't think it's the end all be all if he walks. I think Romo can work the same magic with Royal or Doucet as he does with Robinson and probably cost less money.

Royal is going to Washington. We slept on another one.

Asked Tony Romo last nt about Laurent Robinson, visiting #Jaguars. A: "He was huge for us. We'll see how the week goes. I hope he's back."

I bet Romo does hope he's back knowing that Dez isnt particularly consistent in any part of his life, on the field included and Austin was made of glass last season.

It has nothing to do with "flipping a switch". The talent was always there but he spent his first three years injured.

We will see how talented he is when Blaine Gabbert is throwing the passes.

I think you are right. But also, in addition to a potent running game, the fact that Witten, Dez, and when healthy Austin, were on the field helped him quite a bit. I'm not sure how well he will do on a team that doesn't have that many weapons on the field.
