It has always been that way so it is clearly a TD when the ball crosses the goal line. Let me ask what part of the player needs to cross the goal line? Are you saying if the player is half way across the line it is not TD? It is the same with getting a 1st down it is where the ball is that will get marked

I'd like it to be clear, crystal, that the player scored. If half his body is across the goaline but the ball is down between his feet, no it's not a TD cause he didn't cross the goalline with the ball.

But I want it to be pretty clear that the player, with the ball in hands, is across the goalline, rather than the nose of the ball while the player is laying a yard or more outside of the goal line.

Same thing on first downs. I don't think guys should be getting tackled, a yard or two shy, but because they stretch their arm out and the nose of the ball crosses the first down line that it should be a first down. Clearly the player, themselves, didn't get the first down. I just don't like that. I know it's how it is, and it's part of the game, so I accept it and go on with it but it doesn't mean I have to like it or agree with it.

That was a TD. The Steelers DID win the SB. On to next season. It should be a good one!

Don't like it. They should make it where it's either clear a TD or not. I have never, and will never ,like the ball breaking the plane thing. That, to me, isn't a TD. The player didn't actually score.

I agree. It used to be you had to get in the end zone - or at least that's the way it seem like they called the games.

Now guys simply have to touch the plane of the end zone with a tip of the ball and its touchdown.

Either get in the end zone or no touchdown.

Never thought his other foot was down, but I was not sure. No replays gave conclusive evidence his foot wasn't down so it was a good call.

What convinced me his other foot wasn't down was an interview he did the next day. One of the first things out of his mouth was that "he had two feet down". Understand he wasn't answering a question put to him, just wanted to volunteer that info.

I thought to myself, oh ok, now I know you didn't have that second toe down.

Taking into consideration that you must have 2 feet down and be in control of the ball - you be the judge ...

What's your call?

Phoenix Talon

The man did the best with the call at the time. No, not the man who oppresses me on a daily basis, but the ref.

I saw the replay and I was sure he was inbounds and had control.

Now that I am sober, it does look different. hindsight is wonderful but the refs did the best job they could and other things like dropped balls and stupid penalties and that freak 100-yard Int. return might have reversed the game as well as well.

No use crying over spilt milk under the burning bridge because we' all go crazy (Jackie Smith comes to mind.)
