Why on earth would we cut Deonte Thompson? He has been Dak's safety blanket through two games. A fourth round pick gets you what these days? Dalton Schultz?

Essentially we could have Gotten Josh Gordon and a conditional 4th rounder for a 5th rounder. This would happen by trading our 2018 5th rounder to the Browns for Josh Gordon and then cut Deonte Thompson to recoup our 4th round conditional pick. I wonder if the big wigs in the front office see it that way or not. I think this guy will tear it up with NE. He burned somebody bad the other day in the game and was under thrown by 10 yards. He's an accident waiting to happen. What do you say to a guy like Deonte, who puts in the work and is a straight arrow? Sorry, this ******* 5 time loser has more ability but is 1 strike away from never playing again. IF he gets suspended it cost us trading our 5th round pick back 2 rounds...very low risk for a potential high reward.

So what am I missing?

Look, I’m not upset we didn’t get the guy, is what it is. But to say we shouldn’t have interest is just being irrational. You either irrationally think the cost of trading back 2 rounds from the 5th to the 7th is a large cost, or you irrationally think everyone will be blazing blunts in the locker room or something because Josh Gordon shows up.
