Did we get away with one on the last play?

The refs must have wanted to go home because there was a clear hold on Mayowa and a potential roughing the passer (tackling QB low...) that could have been called giving them another shot at a much more managble distance.
Ya, I agree. I cringed when I saw it live for the first time because I thought they'd call it and get another hail mary shot. I held my breath for a couple seconds and when no flags were on the field then I started celebrating. Bit I completely agree with you, I don't think the refs wanted to decide the game and let them play the last play.

Did anyone else notice on the last "hail mary" play of the game that one of our linemen dove and hit Cousin's low in the legs, but I'm not sure if he knocked him down or not. We've all seen that call made before.
Yeah I seen it. Wilcox nearly put that ball in play.

Where were you last season handing out passes to teams with trash QBs?

We had a pass that's why most knew after week 2 the season was over. Just like this one was over in august. But this time we might have a future qb.

Those threads are hilarious to read. It's like I always tell the tin foil crew...you think there's a conspiracy or league bias against the Cowboys? Join the club, because so do the fans of every team in the NFL.

You can go on that thread and change the name from Commanders to Cowboys and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between their game day thread and ours, lol.

This one is far from over. We have some winnable games coming and Romo will come back to a team that is above .500. With this defense, we need Tony to stay healthy to bring it home. Dak isn't ready to carry the defense for 16 games just yet.

No so sure were above .500 when he comes back. This is not a sb team with this d even with a healthy romo.

Never said it was but they can make the playoffs. Should all teams that aren't at the top just close up shop and shoot for a top 5 pick? Screw that, go as far as they can with Romo or Dak. There is no reason to give up after two games!

Now, if we stand at 1-7 midway through, that is a different story........

Not saying give up. But after 20 years of nothing and having a qb like romo I don't care about winning the division.

Basically no sb win no care. Until dak is the full time starter than winning the division is ok.

I especially cringed at that one... that's how a ball ends up getting volleyballed around right before a tragic end. Dang. I'm Wilcox's one fan... not always of his play, but I want him to do well.... but he's got to be smarter than that, doesn't he?

I thought we got away with one on the last play. Clearly Cousins was hit in the knees, or below the knees. I didn't watch it closely enough to see the hold. So as long as Cousins isn't hurt from the play then it's a wash.
The hold was blatant. I guess they just let 'em play. Remember that would be game winner that Romo threw to Roy Williams against the Skins? I wish they had let 'em play then. Instead they called holding (it was the right call) and wiped out the game winning TD. A chance for the much maligned Roy Williams to be a hero, but he couldn't get a break.

This game seemed to be fairly evenly called, with plenty of missed calls. The broadcast kept showing Josh Norman's great early play against Dez where Norman clearly grabbed and pulled Bryant's jersey to not allow him to come back to the ball. Later, there was Claiborne grabbing and tugging the bottom of the jersey to prevent a receiver (think it was Garcon) from coming back to the ball in the end zone. (The play by Norman was lauded by the announcers, though, while the one by Claiborne was pointed out as a hold.) Of course, that non-call made up for a very poor defensive hold call officials made against Claiborne early in the game.

These officials were very inconsistent, and I hate that worse than them not calling or calling everything. Teams can't adjust to inconsistent officiating because it's never clear what the officials want them to do.

That hold drove me crazy, considering the one they called a few years ago on the final play of the game when Tony threw the TD pass to Roy Williams.

Refs never make that call on the final play of the game but, for whatever reason, they did that time. Still bothers me lol

I did see that and thought they were going to call it, but then I also saw a Commander lineman hold one of the rushers until a double team came.

yup. good point.

i always say you gotta beat the zebras too unfortunately. or score enough points to where they don't become that much of a factor. but since this is a parity league thats tough.

also if the refs have a cowboys bias what would be the reason?

does that reason account for the cowboys not winning much of anything since '97?

i rest my case.

There were two offsetting penalties on the last play...........a hold by the Skins and a roughing the passer by Dallas.

It should have been offsetting penalties and you replay with an untimed down.

Either the officials decided the penalties offset each other so why bother calling either or they simply "let them play" on the last play of the game and only something egregious like picking up Cousins and giving him a back breaker like Bane did to Batman would be called.:D

Yep, the hold by their left tackle on our RDE on that final Hail Marry play was one of the most blatant penalties I have ever seen - guy had a full chokehold with his left arm completely around the Cowboy players neck for about 5 steps lol.
Ref was staring right at it!!! Nothing.

Then Wilcox (our most brilliant player ever) tries to catch it and almost bats it back into the group.....instead of making sure it flies through back of endzone

Sigh. Cardiac Cowboys....
