Did We Move the Proverbial Needle this Off-season?

Especially when you draft Trysten and Schooner and Kelvin and Mazi w/ high picks. Yes, everyone misses in the draft, but you just cannot miss that many high draft picks and expect to excel. Especially since better players were there.
we had two bad drafts in a row in 23, 24....essentially ended up with nothing. even Overshown that people talk up a lot has been injured more games than he has played.

Tough to say, that needle has more than a few bends that need to be straightened.

I would say it appears to move the needle up for this season at the price of possibly lowering the needle for future seasons.
Yeah, that's kinda how I see it too. Rather than sit on their hands another year, they have made moves that may keep them "around the rim" of competitiveness. Which could ruin their chances to have prime draft capital.

In sports, the worst place to be is consistently in the middle.

They just moved the needle a huge amount by signing a legit WR2 who’s really a WR1.
Again, depends on what you consider moving the needle.. did they get better, yes! Did they become legit contenders to win a SB, NO! This team was not a WR away..ha ha.. it wouldn't matter if we had J. Rice, M. Irvin, R. Moss and TO has the WR group, this team is not winning anything of note and it's not because of the WR room, the defense, the OL, the TE , or RB room.

I still think we need one more good RB, a GREAT DT (did not like paying Osa but at least we got someone), and I'm still terrified of the Steele/Guyton duo. I think if anything has a chance to derail the season it's our OT play. Really would like to get some solid veteran depth there, and honestly replace Steele. But yes, for the first time in a long time the team actually had a seemingly good offseason, especially with Martin retiring and Lawerence leaving. I feel like we had the best draft in quite sometime.

No one said they are a player away. However, a player like Pickens in an area of extreme need certainly moved the needle towards becoming a better team. No matter how much you hate it so, it’s the truth.

If it doesn't help win a SB, then it is a waste of resources and this team isn't winning a SB for at least another 2-3 years so why waste resources. I don't hate the move, I hate that it doesn't matter.

You don’t know it doesn’t matter. You just say that because you WANT them to suck so you can pound you chest I guess. SMH.

difference is they addressed it and won a superbowl after having been in the superbowl a couple years before.
they drafted and addressed defense in FA and draft.
this year, their first 5 picks was defense after having the top defense in the league and winning superbowl.
it was no accident.

it could easily happen again is a wishful thinking on your part.
Just because you use the picks on defense doesn't mean the players are the same quality or that they are ready to go right off the bat. I expect Philly to be right in the mix, but the Eagles did take some losses in free agency and we have no idea how those replacements will play. If they get a Mazi-like rookie season from defenders they are expecting to step in for starters, it will hurt their defense some.

Last year was a wash in more than one way. Injuries, lack of depth, think coaches didn't care about their contracts etc.

Defensively, I'm still not sold that they did enough if they have to face the 49ers, GB, Eagles, etc...

Offensively, you can hope with the offensive line, WRs etc Dak could go back to 2023, but can they stop the run? Is the secondary good enough to where the DL can get one more second to get to the QB's face?

I wonder about some of these fans. Like if the product is so terrible, and they obviously hate it so much, why even bother with it?

I wasn't all that excited about last year's team and I was very busy, so I just didn't have much time cept for Sundays. I just don't understand it unless there's maybe an agenda?

I get criticizing the team, but many will hate on obviously good moves, which doesn't bode well for their credibility or the legitimacy of their criticism.

That's the difference between a critic and an obvious hater. Or TeeRoll.

are you going to say the same thing about cowboys picks, Booker and Eze? or as I hear they are Dawgs...

when you spend premium picks, year in year out, then you are going to end up getting some good players, specially if you pick in the top 15, as Eagles picked two DTs two years in a row.
the eagles lost some in FA, also gained some and had a lot of Draft capital they spent for a team that's still young and just won the superbowl. Cowboys should envy the eagles. as much as I hate the eagles.

and its funny, you use Mazi, a cowboys crap player and thinking they are doomed if that's the type of player they picked, in the mean time, Mazi is a starter in Dallas DL!!! so we know we have crap.

oh, for sure we became a better offense. but to what end? if Pickens walks, then we had a one year rental, traded mid 3rd round pick for a top of the 4th round pick (essentially) and a 5th round pick for a 6th round pick.... and got nothing in return. best case scenario for this team is making playoffs, which will be tough in our division with Washington and Philly both having made it to CCG and even if they do, early exist as usual. I just don't see this as a piece of a championship puzzle, unless he is resigned, which then we would be investing 60+M on WR alone. and what has been the result for teams that invested as such.

No I want them to win a SB. I also KNOW they can't with this QB. He has shown who he is over and over again, no reason to think this year will be any different.
