Shanle was 245 earlier in career and clearly is bigger than Dat. I like Dat a LOT.

But Shanle is the better coverage LB. And Parcells asked on what Shanle added that Dat might not. His words was he hits in there pretty good. Heard Bellicheck say the same thing this week on what his linebackers weren't doing.... It means physically getting into plays and blowing up lanes. Als and to some extent Dat are more fitted for a 4-3 and making tackles 3-5 yards wrong side LOS.

You have to give Shanle props - if he was a weakness it wasn't exploited by the 2 #1 defenses last 2 weeks. And further props - Dat not starting tomorrow based on all comments -reduced role. Dude is a football player.

Bruschi in 1996-2000 was a role football player. Don't dismiss football players.

NFL.com has Dat at 5-11, 238.. and Shanle at 6-2, 245.

Really, it's the three inches that have you all going "wow"

For every inch Dat has, he has about 3.35 pounds.

For every inch Shanle has, he has about 3.31 pounds.

All Shanle has on Dat is three inches. That three inches isn't going to help you see over a 6'4 325 pound guard, is it?

with Dat out we learned that Bradie James is capable of being a pretty good player...maybe very good one day. There is your silverl-ining. I dont see much of a difference from Dat and Shanle....both good hustlers with not great god given talent.
