Did we touch Manning today?

Manning the lesser played well. He had the ball out or he was stepping up in the pocket. That said, we got little from the the front three and only Ware made any progress in the rush game.

you guys are forgetting that the Giant Oline are a good group of linemen, and were stone-walling our defenders all day, and Manning was really quick on his feet, side-stepping rushes and rolling out, he was also getting rid of the ball quickly today

I knew noone would touch this

I definitely don't think that this was one our D's best games, but they did stop the Giants twice inside the 10 yard line causing two field goals which kept the game close enough to win. But Zim's playcalling on the last drive seemed really bad.

There are some who don't want questions now.
They might imply you are a spoil sport for asking a legitimate question.

No, but I'm sure he touched himself after that crushing loss.

BP and TC are friends and were long time colleagues I am sure both were trying to out chess each other. The Giants protection schemes were very good toayt they very seldom left their tackles man to man on rushers.

Well I think we may see the same against the Saints. I think the D didn't play as aggressively as we've seen them play b/c of how well the Giants use the RBs as pass catchers out of the backfield, especially on screens (saw that play where Jacobs ran over guys).

I think Deuce and Bush are similiar, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the D play a sort of "bend but don't break" style in order to contain those kinds of plays and force rushes or middle/deep shots.

Go Cowboys!

Overall they played a decent game. We're talking about the lack of sacks/hurries and folding like a cheap accordion when it mattered most. For the benefit of the reading impaired, that's the point of this thread. Romo saved their bacon.

he had all day on a lot of those passes, that problem needs to be solved. just imagine what a GOOD quarterback could have done back there with that much time!

They just played coverage. Since Manning isn't playing so well, they wanted him to nickel and dime them til he made a mistake. Not that bad a strategy since he only had one pass over 20 yards. I don't think you can count the screen to Jacobs.

Ware got him on a run that was barely not a sack, he started running behind the line and got 1 yard or so as Ware made a great play

but the pressure was really lacking

Osi had no tackles or sacks,, so that helps some. But we must do better. We still are protecting the FS by not blitzing, and when we do, we are not consistent.

We shouldn't have to blitz as often as we do. This next draft needs to bring another pass rusher who has a history of bringing it. Adimiri of Notre Dame had 10 sacks in 11 games this, his senior season, & 8 last year in 9 games. He also had 14 QB hurries this year. He's 6-4, 260, and he brings a great amount of energy to each play. This guy can reek havoc in an opponents' backfield. With him on one end & Ware on the other, we may finally have a pair of sack men. A team MUST have two who can put pressure on a constant basis to be any good in the passing game.
