reminded me a tad of 2013
That season was even more wild because you had no idea what team was showing up week to week. Even though it was a loss and even though I love a good defensive struggle that Bronco game that year was one of the most exciting games I can remember.

They had like 4-5 games that were just perfect. Division rivals . Crazy running up the score. Crazy stats and highlights. Pick 6’s.

I feel like this year even if we get a few of those it won’t feel quite as good.
It showed the potential of the team. But everything is easier when things are going well. No pressure, no stress, no over thinking anything. But when things weren't going well, this team played poorly under pressure.

Those games were brutal. Especially the GB game because it was the playoffs and I never saw it coming. Losing to the lowly Cardinals with Joshua Dobbs as the QB just as well be considered a blowout.
Last year the Cowboys were 10-0 when scoring first. If they got ahead by two scores, they loosed their pass rush which led to many of the interceptions. All 5 of Deron Bland’s pick-6s were when we were ahead - 4 of them when we were ahead two or more scores.

Conversely, Including the embarrassing playoff loss, the Cowboys were 2-6 in games where the opponent scored first. We just couldn’t seem to take an early punch to the gut.

Sadly, that is a sign of a team that plays well when things are going well but not when adversity strikes first. This team has lacked the mental toughness required to win in the playoffs for far too long.

That tells me the play calling and coaching were goofy too.

This is the Cowboys MO for far too long. And the longer it goes on the greater the pressure mounts to play well when it really matters.

Feast or famine was Quinns defense. Against the better teams, it was worse than famine, it was complete starvation.

Didn't you know we went 12-5 three straight seasons? :muttley:

There's got to be some kind of trophy for that......
There’s only 1 trophy and it’s named after one of the greatest coaches of all time.

Not the 49ers blowout the Bills blowout or the GB blowout. Great teams don't get destroyed 3 times.
The 1970 team went to the Super Bowl after being destroyed and having some of the worst games in Cowboys history.

This is the Cowboys MO for far too long.
It is not just our MO. It is literally what we are built to do. It would be like showing up with no running backs and wondering why we lead the league in passing every year. It is by design. We had a brief window in 2016 where we had a team we could be proud of. We were grinding people into dust. We instantly reverted back to what we know and love. Flashy shiny toys. Highly paid stars. Empty stats.
