I have actually seen somewhere before that you could not lick your elbow. I told my sons that and we all tried to do it. After a little manuevering I was acutally able to get it done. It is not easy though.

The only thing that you should EVER put in your ear is your elbow.

Giraffe's have the same # of vertabrae in their neck as humans.

Neptune is actually the farthest planet from the sun. (right now)

Gravity is not what you think it is. It's not a pulling sensation like say a tug of war. Here's an oversimplification of what it really is......Have someone hold a piece of paper very taught between two hands. Put a marble in the middle, then put a smaller marble near the outside. They move towards each other because of the dent in the paper caused by the weight of the marbles. Planets, Stars and all other celestial bodies put similar "dents" in the fabric of space and time. That's Einstein's General Theory Of Relativity in a nutshell. Easy eh!

I think the duck quack is false. I saw Myth Busters and they busted that.

Actually, I disagree with this .. gravity is a constant force pulling matter toward it's central point.

Einstein's theory, although originally applied to particles, states that an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Well, in your example, the outside force is gravity.

To remove the force (gravity) from the test, you'd have to have a zero-gravity environment. In a zero-gravity environment, the larger marble does not "weigh" more than the smaller marble. It has more mass of course, but without gravity, there is no weight. Therefore, without gravity, the paper would remain flat and the marbles would remain motionless.

I would have to agree with this also. While I do not watch that show, any sound will generate an echo to some degree as long as some type of matter is present since echos are produced by sound waves bouncing off objects, matter, etc. Now, it may be possible that the echo of a duck's quack may not be detectable by human hearing, but then we get into the whole "if a tree falls in the woods, but no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" question :)

They actually did disprove it... but it took a while...

They seemed genuinely stumped... it did echo... but not in the sense that a woman's voice echos through the house when she is griping...

Actually, I debate with both of you. We don't know what gravity is. We theorize about particles like gravitons and such, but we have no idea what it truely is. If we did, it would be great, because it would explain a lot.

You are both describing the effect of gravity.

And there you have, Trickbluestein's .. "Theory of Singularity" .. which states .. "A man whose mouth is in motion, remains isolated from females unless impacted by an outside object"

and it certainly proved true during the hypothesis stage...

My control groups rendered it a physics staple...

I am thinking Nobel here...

You don't have to know what gravity is, only that in this case, it is indeed an outside force.

For example, the two marbles and paper example, what if the paper was placed upside down? There would be no dent and the marbles would fall straight down at a fixed rate.

Unless one of those marbles was the Commanders' off-season... then it would reach terminal velocity at the speed of light... ;)
