Breaking News: we're setting a bad precedent by doing this, so any player who's not feeling they're getting enough time, can march up to Jerry have a meeting, and get on the field more??? Oh please. I thought we were SAVING Zeke, yet he gets a lot of carries, i'm so confused!!!
No compass for old Jerry can't get his bearings

I'll ask again.. Did you watch the game or just read the statsheet? I believe Zeke had 5 carries entering the 4th quarter. Dowdle had 3. In what universe is this being "featured?" They had combined for 12 yards between them. Dowdle had his best two runs on Rush's first series but took himself out after two carries and a catch. Zeke didn't put himself in in that situation.. Dowdle did. I'm sure Zeke would have been perfectly content to sit out the rest of that debacle.
Zeke was also only in the game for like 3 snaps the week prior. Then this week reports come out that he spoke to someone about his lack of use, then boom here we are.

Has this been answered by Mike? Did he really ask to be played more and they obliged? It was criminal that he played so much. The team knows who the better back is so why do the opposite? If you want to know what is wrong with the Cowboys look no further than Zeke talking his way onto the field…
Yes. Jerry made MM start Zeke and lead the team in carries.

I used to believe that too until I saw Diggs out there playing one hand touch against the Lions RBs. Some guys simply lack fire in the belly. To your point though Zeke is not such a player. He wants to play and wants to help in any way he can. People acting as if his playing and getting the ball is what is keeping the defense from making tackles or covering people is asinine. Assiten and asseleven.
Star players with contracts are not going to bust their butt and increase their risk for injury for a lameduck HC.

Did you guys not watch the game? The Cowboys were behind by two scores after the first two series. They were in pretty much pass all every down mode from the 2nd quarter on. That's why the back who is the better pass blocker played the most snaps. Rico got run over on a couple of rushes and whiffed on a couple more. I would wager that's why he sat more in that game. Yall should pay more attention to what goes on in the actual game and less attention to the garbage the mediots feed you.
Also, Zeke got at least 3 rushes in the 4th and 2 of them were on the last drive if I'm not mistaken. This is so not a big deal but after a loss like that I get the panic, I guess.

Looks like we wore them down.

Makes you wonder what it would have looked like in a 5th or 6th quarter.
In all seriousness, so they don’t put Zeke in on 1st and goal from the 6” line in Pitts, but he plays throughout against Detroit the next week?! It’s like self sabotage going on here…..

So true. If there's one thing Zeke's good for, it's getting that 1 yard when you absolutely need it.

Pass Protection. They think Zeke is a better pass blocker than the other options.

28 snaps but only 8 carries and zero pass targets.

Hear what you're saying, but it seems like they played him more than we we're used to seeing him, and that also Jerry said we're saving him
fish said elliot got most of the carries in 1st qrt. He also said evidently the meetings got him more carries.
For the game zeke had 8 rico 7

Dowdle only got up to 5 ypc because of two nice garbage time runs. After which HE took himself out of the game. Before that he had 3 carries for 7 yards if I'm not mistaken. From the 11:39 mark in the 2nd to the 5:26 mark of the third neither back got the ball. Period. It wasn't Zeke taking away Rico's carries.. it was McCarthy and maybe more accurately, the Lions. Because they were lighting up our defense which caused McCarthy to panic and go 90% run for two quarters
Lol
Dowdle should be starting and running the ball. Elliott is not effective anymore. Time to let it go.

Except Zeke didn't start and he only led the team in carries because Dowdle begged out of the game on the last couple of garbage time drives. Too many people are confusing the chicken with the egg here.

Zeke no longer has the legs/burst and Dowdle is below average. But the biggest issue in run game is MM, Oline coach and run scheme. Pollard looked bad last year in same scheme.

We started to rebuild the OLine too late. Seems like we are always a year or two behind on what needs to be done.

Jerry does not respect the trenches on either side of the ball. Neither do fans for the most part. It is not a sexy position.

This old RB certainly DO respect the trenches. Ironically O-line is probably the best position group for this front office in terms of drafting. At least when it comes to the high picks. I think BeeBe and Guyton are going to be good and expect Tyler Smith to continue to get better. Hopefully Martin's issue is just old man's back issues that we all get as we hit our mid 30's and he figures out how to manage it. Steele I just don't know about at this point. Seems like he's headed down the Michael Gallup path. Just not quite able to get back to the pre-ACL level of play. But I still think the biggest issue with this line at least as pertains to run blocking is they are doing too much finessing and not enough smash mouthing.

I am happy with the drafting Beebe and Guyton. However only 1 lineman currently playing at a high level is not going to get it done.
