Didn't BP say that K. Burnett will possibly "be an ILB in the NFL, eventually"?

He may back up Ware for a while but ultimately will become an ILB for us?

I remember him saying that he could be an ILB in this league.
I also think he said that B. James could play OLB, maybe in Ware's position.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by "eventually". If you mean this year - I don't know. He has practiced at OLB all TC/preseason and BP's main concern has been lack of depth at OLB.

In the long run, it is also hard to say. I think it depends to some degree on how Fujita does at OLB and how Shanle/Fowler/James develop at ILB. The beauty about Burnett is that he can probably play just about an LB spot in the 3-4 or 4-3.

I am curious to see what type of player Dat is in a 3-4. I know I wasnt overly impressed with him in a 4-3. This has to be his year.

i think in the future, james will be a ILB and Burnett will take the OLB spot opposite Ware.

I don't think that James has a long term future with the cowboys as a starting linebacker. We will be drafting another linebacker next year. I think that Parcells sees Singleton or James as starting material in the 3-4, and at some point Singleton will be cut because he's getting paid like a starter. Before anyone goes anywhere though, we need to see what Fujita can do, and where Burnett fits best.

I've been on the Burnett to ILB bandwagon since we drafted him. I see no reason to get off now. It just seems like it would be more natural for him.
