I was told on this site here that Murray is by far and already better than Dak.
He was a better QB in college and he is a better passer but we have yet to see what kind of QB he's going to be in the NFL.

If I had a rookie QB, especially one that I planned on starting, he would play at least the first half of every game.

Sure, they will get their half of the estimated $2 billion in profits that the two added regular season games are expected to generate.
The key for the owners is to get the TV nets to cover the cost, they're the real beneficiaries of the two additional games because these pretend games are not money makers for the nets.

However, the best way to get them to go along is to add the two real games to the end of the season and stretch the regular season and get more of Feb into the season because that's actually a ratings sweep month. Making the two pretend games in August real doesn't help them enough.

Now competing teams for that given week are going on conference calls and agreeing mutually to not us 80% of their starters.. not even for the 3rd game...wow it has finally met its end..

This might be the last year with 4-5 PS games... big changes are coming..

its like watching a live tackling practice..

yet fans , insane ones, are paying for FULL Parking, Food, Drink, and Ticket costs.... Huh no way I live 8miles from the stadium and wouldn't even consider a PS game..why would I when I can wait few weeks and get real season game tickets for the same cost and the full experience...

SAD I can get passed 20mins watching on tv before I'm like welp..saw some ball..turn tv to gilligans Island , its more entertaining..:huh::popcorn:
I read that the field was in pad condition and it was only 80 yards, so they protected their starters...which is the right thing to do...if NFL is going to want people to attend PSGs, then at least they have to be serious about it.

I live in New England 20 minutes from Gillette Stadium. Preseason tickets are only $45. It's a chance for people to take the young kids family. Other than that it's not worthwhile

What is it with people who think forcing guys to play is a realistic solution?

"Force Zeke to play!" Force them all to play!" Get ready for lots of mysterious injuries and guys tapping out every other play. Oh, I know, if that happens FINE THEM!

Or you could leave the entire preseason as is except get rid of a couple of these fake "games" and replace them with practices, scrimmages, etc..
Note I said nothing about forcing injured players to play.

I’ve skipped them so far this year. Out of market and cut the cord.

USFL played 18 games. I don't remember them having a rash of injuries.
Most injuries happen, in my opinion. When you get sloppy tired. If you're in shape. You're not tripping over your own feet you're aware I don't see any injuries a problem. I mean they happen but it would be rare.

I had free tickets to the Eagles Ravens game last night.
I went. The guy who gave me the tickets also gave me a parking pass so I didnt have to spend the $40. I thought I was going to get to see a half of Lamar Jackson. Nope.... Some kid from Penn State started. The Eagles rested most of their starters. I guy we know put us in a club box on the 50 yard line. So that was nice......But I kept thinking how much some of the people around me paid to watch this crap. Drinks were not cheaper. Tickets were expensive for the poor guy who had to buy them.

Then at halftime the rain came and we got out of town.

Even for free I don't think I would do that again.

Preseason has become a bad joke.
That "some kid from Penn State" only had more wins as a a PSU QB than anyone, ever. FWIW.

If the players do agree to an 18 game season. How do you think that impacts the contracts of players that are already signed?

Obviously the salary cap would have to go up, due to the increase revenue. Do players under contract get a % boost to their base salaries/guaranteed so that they are fairly compensate for playing the extra 2 games?

The increase in revenue would have to come from the TV nets, the underwriters now of the NFL. They would have to up the ante by 12.5% to cover the game checks for the two additional real games. Which would increase the cap The question is does a real NFL game have 6.25% more value to a net?\

Are the owners willing to share some of that additional expense because they make more on the pretend games? They're fleecing the season ticket holders for a joke of a real NFL game but the sheep still keep lining up.

At some point in the next year or two the league is going to force teams to play starters for a certain amount of snaps in preseason games.

Then they better start giving HC's a break when his season sputters because he lost a key player.

I really don't see the league ever forcing any team to play starters.

It’s so bad I can’t watch more than 2-3 plays. I even fell asleep during the Dallas-Rams game. Stadiums are empty and the product on the field is like watching two community colleges going at it. Then you have the refs throwing the flag 30-35 times a game. It’s just unwatchable but it’s still a money maker for the owners so it likely won’t change anytime soon.

doubt it the pubic perception with the league is to protect players, making a owner and coach play starters when they dont want and they get hurt in a meaningless game and now dilutes the regular season product and hurts that steams chance to win..well there would be an outrage, lockout etc ..

I believe given the cba is up the coming year this will get hashed out and quick change is ahead..if during the negotiations RG and the NFL even suggest mandatory playing of SS in the PS..all heck will break loose...long lockouts ahead this time around given RBs want better rookie deals ie shorter ones with no 5th year option , some owners wanting player % against the cap capped ie no one player can make so ,uch of the cap(helps with QBs for sure), the talk of Pre-season shortened . and 18 game seasons etc etc.. wow this could be a doozy..
