as long as the cap goes up, salaries will as well. people seem to think that only "sexy" positions will get more $ - but with a sudden burst of reality, positions of need are going to get the $.

the market has been set. can you imagine being gurode and kicking yourself now cause you can't "cash in" till your contract is up?

the next question is - will some of these players who signed last year or the year before now suddenly they hold out cause they barely missed "payday"?

i'm happy to see us take steps to at least try, if that's what you mean. davis may not have been my favorite choice, but hey - it's more than we've done in the past. resign columbo and draft one or two and let's see what comes together.

We tried in the past. We just totally suck a drafting OL. The result is the 2nd year in a row we had to buy a starting OG.

this annual feeding frenzie started about five years ago when 'the' group of cornerbacks hit the market at the start of free agency. Unless locked up by teams prior to the start of free agency, there is a tendency for a 'one-time' big pay off by a growing number of journeymen players at a multitude of positional groups. This season has established the now, non-reversible, trend that all positions can get a real 'piece' of the pie.

No longer is it irresponsibility, or even a gambler's mindset, that was associated with previous Jerry Jones' aquisitions, such as Deion Sanders, Galloway, even Charles Haley...but this condition, is driven by the effects of free agency for the past five years....the effects of the recently negotiated Labor Relations contract, and the tendency for teams, even such as New England, to go ahead and pay market levels for improvements for their teams, and NOT just top level talents. It is the nature of the beast now...but in it's defense, it works within a cap setting, and guarantees maximum benefits to both franchises and players alike....
