Difference between Seahawks, Cowboys comes from the draft

Maybe Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has opted to unleash a few significant changes to his coaching staff during Super Bowl week as a diversion to a fairly bright-line comparison between his team and the current NFC champions.

The Seahawks’ superiority to the Cowboys (and the rest of the NFC) comes from the draft. For Dallas, there’s a specific apples-to-apples comparison that becomes a bad look for the ‘Boys.

As pointed out by David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys used a fifth-round pick in 2011 on cornerback Josh Thomas. Eleven picks later, the Seahawks picked cornerback Richard Sherman.

But that wasn’t the first time the Cowboys whiffed on a rookie who became a big-name defensive player. In 2010, the Cowboys picked safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah . . . seven spots before the Seahawks selected safety Kam Chancellor.

This the kind of garbage that passes as journalism. You can pick numerous teams and then select another team that picked a successful player after them in the draft and say they whiffed.

Nothing to see here.

You don't say. The Seahawks have become the best team in the NFL because their draft picks have worked out better than those of other teams? Who woulda thunk it?

Wait, wait, wait. I thought we drafted the same as Seattle and Denver. That's what the post said last week.

This must be media bias against us.

That's only one part of it...biggest problem is JJ as the GM. If he stood back like Allen, I'm sure we might be talking about the Cowboys going for there 6th SB. We'll never know until JJ takes a dirt nap.

It's sickening to think about how good it could be. Imagine Jerry as just an owner. He never ran Jimmy out of town. Once Jimmy left on his own, he used the same over spending on players to get the best GM he could find to run the football operations. Instead of wasting so much energy in micromanaging every aspect of this organization, he was focused merely on being the owner of the greatest sports franchise on Earth.

He was "all in" but in the right way.

How many titles would we be talking about right now? I'd say it would be more than 6. We'd have the best of everything. From ownership, to management to coaches to players.

Now why isn't this possible? What's keeping this football heaven from becoming a reality?

One lunatic of an old man and his Texas sized ego. The thought of not getting credit trumps everything else.

Your last sentence sums it up exactly. It kills JJ that Jimmy gets credit for the 3 SB's and he will go to his grave doing it his way and show folks that he didn't need Jimmy. Sorry, but that day will never come, JJ.

I knew he was certifiably insane when he told us he was miserable during our dynasty run. What sane owner of a sports team would feel that way?

This is the most self-centered, egomaniacal individual you will ever know.

Depressing to think we could've had those 2 guys. Maybe it's just luck or maybe seattle has some good scouts. Maybe their coaches develop players better than ours do. We have hit on some late round guys, Leary, Murray, Harris, Beasley, hatcher, free. But not studs like Seattle finds. From top to bottom Seattle is just the superior organization

If a team drafts a Star player in the 5th round, that indicates that they passed on drafting that player with their 1st 4 picks.

LIke 30 other teams didn't also pass over the guy 4-5-6 times in that draft. Journalistic hindsight crystal balls somehow try to make that a story.

Don't think there's any evidence that any team consistently hits in the later rounds. And there is a reason for that.

It is.

The media really needs develop some integrity and tell the truth to the fans about the Dallas Cowboys.

The truth is that we are run just like other teams and the only reason we are not as successful as others is because of injuries and bad luck.
