I know we have seen the TO, Julian Peterson and Atwaan Randle El threads but how about a different look at FA. One that is more cost efficent, fills needs and sets us up to chose the BAP in the 2006 NFL Draft?

I see 5 FA signings as the key to this off season. WR,LB,S, OT and NT for depth.

I would purpose to Jerry and Bill:

WR Kelly Washington from Cincinnati-Great size and speed but has not lived up to his potential. Only 26 years old and still could develope. This move is contingent on Glenn and Johnson coming back next year. Washington is not suited to be the primary guy but on a team looking for speed he would fit in great as the 3rd or 4th option. In a year that lacks quality WR's in FA and the Draft Washington would be a great addition while looking forward to revamping the WR group in 07'.

LB Akin Ayodele from Jacksonville-A prototypical 3-4 LB wth great size and range. Can line up at DE or drop back in coverage. Has been known to lay some serious wood and could instantly upgrade a young LB group. Only 26 years old and still has room to improve. Could be a 5 year starter for Dallas.

S Chris Hope from Pittsburgh-A real smart player. Almost a second head coach on the field. Spends more time in the film room then any player in FA. Plays with good speed and will come up and lay the wood. Not a big play maker but is always around the ball and rarely gets beat. Only 25 years old and still learning the game. Would be a great compliment to Roy Williams.

NT Damione Lewis from St. Louis-Only 27 years old and a real good pass rusher for a NT. Always disruptive but sometimes lacks the drive to be consistent. Would be a great addition to rotate with Ferguson.

OT Mike Pearson OT Jacksonville-Only 26 years old. Excells in Pass Potection but needs to work on his run blocking. A real smart player that recognizes and adjusts to stunts and blitz packages. Really just needs to find a nasty streak and he could be dominant.

These 5 signings not only would be cost effective and allow Jerry to go for a Reggie Wayne, Julian Peterson or another big name FA but also would allow Dallas to let the draft come to them.

Kelly Washington is interesting but I don't know that I would be willing to give anything up for him. Would rather see us go another way there. Lloyed, as many have mentioned, is an interesting guy. I wanted to gamble on Koren Robinson last year and nobody wanted him. I'm still an advocate of that. I think he'd be worth taking a chance on. Interestingly enough, Antonio Bryant is an FA next season. I would expect Cleveland to sign him but I wonder if he's grown up enough? If he has, I would not mind seeing him back in Dallas. I have always believed him to be a very good talent. Just a lot of growing up to do. You never know.

Ayodele is a good fit. I have no issue with that other then to say, he may be expensive to sign. I wouldn't mind thou.

Chris Hope is another guy that is interesting. My preference would be to draft a good young FS but if we could get Hope, I would not be against that.

I don't like Lewis at all. I don't think he is a good fit at NT for us. Kemoeatu would be ideal IMO, but no telling if he really hits FA or not.

Mike Pearson at OT I don't like at all. Pearson is not strong against the run, at all. He would have to play LT which would mean Allen and Pearson on the left side. Neither can run block to save there lives. I would not be in favor of this move at all. My preference would be to draft a nice young guy but if were signing somebody, I think I'd rather look at Mike Williams. I've suspected for some time that all this guy might need is a change of venue. Maybe LJ Shelton. He can play Guard or Right Tackle so I think there's upside there.

Mike Williams is a nice option as well. He still falls into the mold of the previous guys. Young, underachiver who may just need a change of scenery.

I'm not much for Shelton unless were adding depth.

Lloyd has been brought up several times but I think he is a restricte FA as well but I'm not sure SF will mak emuch of an effort to keep him.

My hope with Akin is that he would give us a home town discount but I know those days are far a few.
