Dilfer on Kitna: best FA dealing so far

Was listening to ESPN (radio) and they had Dilfer on. He said, in his opinion, that the trade for Kitna was the best move of the FA period so far.

Here are his reasons (paraphrased):
• He is a solid QB who can step in and play immediately if needed
• He is revered in the NFL and lockerroom, not just respected. (Kinda one in the same, but I got his point)
• Can be a great tutor/mentor for Tony Romo when it comes to leadership. Said Kitna had a way to get into players' grills about screwing up, but did it respectfully and got results. (Guess his mojo was out last year.)
• Can have an impact on the maturation of the Romo/RW11 connection as well as his relationship with TO

Didn't agree with everything Dilfer said, but I still think it was a good trade for a solid backup QB.

Wow!

That's surprising to me.

We heard all the same crap about Brad when he got here.
With Brad, they talked more about his ability to mentor Romo on his QB skills.

With Kitna, now it's his ability to mentor Romo on managing a lockerroom.

My position. *Shrug*

No, you can tell Dilfer has a man-crush on Kitna.

Personally, I have a lot more respect for Dilfer as an analyst than I ever did as a player.

So his 'gushing' over Kitna carries a bit of weight with me.

Kitna was brought in to teach him how to act after losing, so we don't have another Philly incident. :D

He's good. And he's trashed us plenty before, so he's not exactly biased.

HUH? Getting Brooking was better than getting that clown. This is better than the Cheifs getting Cassel or Skins getting Haynesworth? I have never seen so much joy about getting Jon freaking Kitna. Did i miss something about this guy? Was he the Super Bowl MVP in 2006? What the heck has this guy done besides pad up yards on losing teams?

I think Dilfer hearts Kitna but your two examples are costing about 115 million and a 2nd round pick between them.

I'd rather not have signed either guy at those prices.

I liked other Qbs wayyy more than Kitna for us, obviously effected by his stupid comments, BUT I didn't expect to get any of the guys I liked for a simple 1.95 mil.

Guys like Leftwich and Boller will want if not starting jobs then at least long term deals paying them like low end starters.

Yeah, those examples cost a ton between them... we got Kitna for a CB we were going to cut anyway and are paying him peanuts. It is a good pickup.

I think he can bring a couple of things to the locker room that are missing, but I don't expect much impact from it.

Hey, at least our backup QB can now throw downfield more than 10 yards if Tony gets hurt.

I would have rather traded Henry for a draft pick and signed a FA QB, however I am still ok with this deal.

Kitna most likely came cheaper than anyone we could have picked up of comparable skill.

Another crazy theory is we are greasing the wheel for draft day. I could see us moving up in the 2nd to pick someone that dropped out of round 1 or packaging picks to move up in the 3rd so we have the 1st and 5th picks the first round of day two.

I think Kitna is here for 1 reason, he is a vet QB who has the ability to come into a game or a few games if need be to hold down the fort should Romo miss time.

Gets my attention. And Kitna definitely has more game than Johnson. Ever did not just now.
