HUH? Getting Brooking was better than getting that clown. This is better than the Cheifs getting Cassel or Skins getting Haynesworth? I have never seen so much joy about getting Jon freaking Kitna. Did i miss something about this guy? Was he the Super Bowl MVP in 2006? What the heck has this guy done besides pad up yards on losing teams?

FWIW, I'm sure he was referring to value for the price. Not sure if I agree fully with his assement, but that is what he means. Obvioulsy he does not think Kitna is better than all those players you mentioned, he just thinks for the cost it was a great deal.

With Kitna, now it's his ability to mentor Romo on managing a lockerroom.

Was listening to ESPN (radio) and they had Dilfer on. He said, in his opinion, that the trade for Kitna was the best move of the FA period so far.

Here are his reasons (paraphrased):
• He is a solid QB who can step in and play immediately if needed
• He is revered in the NFL and lockerroom, not just respected. (Kinda one in the same, but I got his point)
• Can be a great tutor/mentor for Tony Romo when it comes to leadership. Said Kitna had a way to get into players' grills about screwing up, but did it respectfully and got results. (Guess his mojo was out last year.)
• Can have an impact on the maturation of the Romo/RW11 connection as well as his relationship with TO

Didn't agree with everything Dilfer said, but I still think it was a good trade for a solid backup QB.

I like Dilfer and think he is one of the better analysts out there right now. He pulls no punches and tells it like it is without any flair for the dramatic.

He's been a backup before so I would think that he has to have holding experience.

And Johnson was a good backup in all of those aspects.

His old body just would not allow him to translate it to the field any longer.

Kitna isn't at that point just yet.

You just can't save yourself from yourself even if you tried. You had to slip some TO verbiage in there... :laugh2: I really do like Dilfer's stance on most thing though. Screw BSPN.

I also think Kitna will be the perfect compliment to Romo from a mentorship standpoint as well as being that someone in
Romo's corner when the chips are down.. :starspin
