Seems like the coaching staff had a long time (many months) to judge DiNucci's level of talent. Now they are changing their opinion after one game? How about some confidence in your talent evaluation and decision making?

Someone help me please understand this philosophy of "need more experience". How does a rookie get experience...by playing one game? Dalton blew chunks in his second game starting, would he have been benched the next start? Now we are going with another scrub? What's the deal man? Where are we going anyway?

He could/should of had 3-4 picks last game. Definitely was a gunslinger with no ability to read the coverage at times.

With the COVID rules, they were limited on how fast they could bring in an outsider to play QB. Rush was signed to the PS, but still had to wait a week or so before joining the team.

With Dalton officially ruled out late into the week, they didn't have too many options for the Philly game.

Gilbert? The guy they just signed who had weeks of prep? Or DiNucci, someone who at least was in TC.

He deserved to be benched.
Yeah, he wasn't NFL ready. What a shock he had after being so well protected at JMU.
Speaking of ready or not, Andy Dalton is on the Reserve Covid list, but has anyone confirmed that he actually has Covid?
Garrett Gilbert may have only a few passes in the NFL as a journeyman, but he put up some impressive numbers in the AAF.
He's worth a look.

To be fair this was the first time they had actually seen him in real game action. Ordinarily they would have seen his deer in headlights-ism during pre-season and acted accordingly. You can never judge a player solely on what they show in practice. Nor should you. Remember all the talk in 2016 about how Dak was looking worse than Jameil Showers all through camp? Then they put him a game and suddenly a light bulb went on?
