Did anyone get their new DirecTV promotion in the mail this week with the opening day schedule and the $99 Super fan offer? I was curious to see what they listed your automatic renewal, "preferred customer", NFL Ticket subscription cost this year.

The Superfan for renewal is $49.99 if you ordered it last year.

I got mine a few weeks ago. I've had sunday ticket since 2000, and I believe I was renewed for $200, and my superfan was $50 in addition, for this year.

Cool, so Superfan is only $50 dollars to renew? I wonder if they will do the same for first time buyer of Superfan, although I have had the Sunday ticket since 1999? Was Supefan thing worth it?

Funny thing is, when I got Sunday Ticket in 1999, I got it because I lived in Detroit. I thought once I move to DFW area, I would not get it anymore. Two years into living in DFW, I still can't go without it.

Even though I can see every Cowboys game anyway without it. I still get the Ticket to see other teams and games. I really don't want to see Saints - 49ers when I can see Bengals - Steelers.

Yep, same here.

I received something about auto renewel (but didn't see a schedule included). Can't recall the exact amout, didn't pay that much attention. But believe it said I will be billed 4 installments of $52.25, could have been $57.95. I will have to find the letter.

I got the first weeks schedule and was told to log on to DirecTV.com and update my profile and tell them my favorite team and they would send me a personal schedule for my team. They informed me that my automatic renewal rate is (don't mean to start nothing, but) $41.50 .... I've got it like that :) I better have because that's how much I've been paying since day one. Unless they give me a darn good explanation for a rate increase, that's what I expect to pay.

That's a sweet deal when you consider the Superfan addition.

You think they misquoted or you might have misheard it? Cause that comes out to $166.00? What do you mean day one? How many years ago did you start subscribing to Sunday Ticket? Since I started at around 129 or less (1999).

I believe I paid full price last season for superfan ($99) which was the first season I got it. It was definitely $50 to renew this year. The shortcuts package and HD make it well worth it for me.

The 99 is in addition to the 229, or whatever it is. The 99 allows you to get the Superfan package add-on, which has the shortcuts, and those lame channels that have like 6 games on at aonce.

I liked that lame channel with six games on at once, when it was free for the first week or two last year. When the Cowboys aren't on, I usually flip between a lot of games, and I have to keep track of which games are on which channels. With the multi-game channel, I can see what's happening in each game and flip to any game when necessary, since it tells which channel it's on.

No, I've got it in writing. I meant $45, Nevertheless, it's the same thing I've been paying since day one. About $180 total. I always keep last year's final bill to compare it to this year. Make sure they aren't trying to slip one past me. They tried it last year. I started in 2000.

Wait a minute, you argue that you should pay the same amount every year? And it works? Alright, Damn, I should have tried that, maybe it would have stayed at $129 or so for me :D

Seriously, so you have been paying 180 since when exactly? 2000 it was much lesser wasn't it?

I thought there was too much graphic, not enough game. Plus, I only had a 27" tv at the time. Might not be so bad anymore.:)

Since with that I would assume, each game would occupy around 4.5" area or so, I would think it wouldn't be enough to watch any game, unless you are setting right infront of it :D

If it had been a hi-def TV, it might not have been so bad. It wasn't, so it sucked.

On the new LCD, it might rock. We'll see. :)

$99, really? My renewal notice said $50 for Superfan because I am a "preferred customer". I will double check on that but I'm rather sure.

Preferred customers at DirecTV get some great benefits. A few months ago, they called me to tell me that I've been such a good customer they were giving me (for free) a new HD receiver for my front projection system. It was about a $350 value. I had to agree to keep my packages for another year but I was going to do that anyway.

FYI I have been a DirecTV (and NFL Sunday Ticket) subscriber since 1997 and probably pay about $100/month all told for programming, so it's not like they're losing any money by giving me something. :)

Yeah, I've been paying the same rate since 2000, $180 is all I've ever known.

Sweet. I'll be looking out for my "special benefits". I think the reason they offered me the $99 Superfan is because I'm a virgin. I've never had it. I think those who've had it prior (just like NFL Ticket) get the reduced rates. Everything I have is pretty basic: from my TV, to my receiver, to my programming. As Chris Rock would say, all I need is sex, a sandwich and silence .... I'm straight. Oh yeah, and my recliner. I think I've replaced the sex with the recliner. Oh well, how many days until August:cool:

Wow Sunday Ticket is $229 now? Thats insane! I am glad I don't have to get it now. I was able to justify it before because it was cheaper than going to the pizza place each week to watch it. I remember when I first got it it was right at $100.

Directv I have officially decided, is evil. I used to be a customer there, and had sunday ticket and everything. Then I upgraded to HDTV. I didn't want to spend all the extra money updating to new equipment to get HD programming. So I went with cable, and used Directv soley for sunday ticket.

That was all fine and good until the last 2 years where Directv started requiring regular programming to go along with Sunday Ticket, so I was paying a couple hundred extra each year for programming that was useless to me, just to get the ticket. So, after this last year I just decided to completely close my account, I wasn't going to bother with the ticket, and I'd just go to sports bars or something when I needed.

Yesterday I decided to see what kind of deal Directv would give me to come back from cable. To see what they'd be willing to offer as far as the equipment is concerned. It's $400 for the HD/DVR. They told me I could have the $100 Mail in Rebate, plus a $100 credit to my account, plus $10 off a month for a year, plus superfan at no cost, the first month of programming free, and HBO and Showtime for $2/mo. for 6 mos. That's $370 in credits. Not too bad, that leaves only $30 for the HD/DVR box, and another $50 for the off-air antenna. Only $80 total. I could deal with that. They mentioned nothing about any other fees (DVR) or anything when telling me the costs.

Now today I called, planning on signing up and they tell me that can't seem to find the notes from my call yesterday. They see that I called, but no notes. They're magically gone. So now they won't offer me the $100 credit to my account, tried to make me pay for the superfan, and of course have the $5.99 a month DVR fee as well. Then on top of that, they want a 2 year contract. Not one year, but 2.

I told them for 2 years they'd have to not charge me for the box at all, and they said they couldn't do that, so, they can go to hell. They're customer service is horrible. They used to be fine, and I never had problems with them, but now the last few years they've gone to crap.
