Best shooting 7ft'er of all-time.

Followed him since his first game in Seattle against Detlef...

You mean like, uh, Kobi? And certainly not even remotely close to Duncan.

I've been to a game where Dirk literally had one tooth broken in half and the other knocked out and he still was playing. The dude is very tough, it's just that "jump-shooters" get labled soft.

clutch as it gets? how many championships does he have? and how did he do in the finals the only time he got there? dont even mention tim duncan in the same breath as Irk Nodicksky, he cant play defense, he isnt clutch when it matters, and he hasnt won anything of any consequense. Id rather have tim take a three to win a game in the playoffs that Irk

How did he do in the finals you ask?

Game 1 - 16pts 10rbs 90-80 win
Game 2 - 26pts 16rbs 99-85 win
Game 3 - 30pts 7 rbs 96-98 loss
Game 4 - 19pts 9 rbs 74-98 loss
Game 5 - 20pts 8 rbs 100-101 loss
Game 6 - 29pts 15rbs 92-95 loss

Except for the somewhat under achieving 19pts 9rbs loss in game 4, I would say Dirk did pretty well in the finals. The 16pts 10rbs was a win. I'm tired of hearing how Dirk did poorly in the finals. Dirk had no help. So he did avg 23.3 pts and 10.8rbs. That must be aweful huh?

You want to know how he scored 50pts in the same playoffs against the Suns or drove to the basket and got the foul on Manu to carry the Mavs past the Spurs that year also?

if he was so clutch, like someone claimed that he was "clutch as it gets" he would have put that team on his back, scored 50 or gotten 20 rebouds and 10 assist, done anything he needed to do to get a win, he is not great, he is good, he is Pippen without a Michael Jordan

Someone made a snide reference about a Spurs player. Cue bulldog mode.

That is all.

I wasn't really sure what to expect after this past offseason, but they certainly look good so far. And that's a good thing.

I have to say, win or lose I always enjoy watching these games. Has to be considered a top 10 rivalry in sports right now considering the level of competition, "sports hatred" between the two teams, history, etc.

to loose 4 games in a row that was pitful

he did not step his game when needed esp in game 5

I be the first to admit he a good player at 7'

but never has been a dominant guy

Game Three

Led by Dwyane Wade's 42 points and 13 rebounds, the Heat rallied from a 13-point deficit with six minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The momentum-changing comeback was capped by a Gary Payton field goal from just inside the three-point line with 9.3 seconds left.

Dirk Nowitzki had a chance to tie the game at the free throw line with 3.4 seconds to go, but missed 1 of 2, sealing the win for Miami

Game Five
Dwyane Wade was the star yet again with 43 points, shooting as many free throws as all the Mavericks combined (a fact that did not sit well with head coach Avery Johnson[2]), leading the Heat to their third straight win over Dallas after being down 0–2 in the series. After a controversial play in which Mavericks owner Mark Cuban thought Wade committed a backcourt violation, Wade hit the game-winning free throws with 1.9 seconds left after Dallas was called for a questionable foul, and also made the shot that sent the game into overtime. He set an NBA Finals record for most made free-throws in a game with 21.

Dirk Nowitzki missed 1 of the 2 free throws that could have sent the game to overtime.[3]

opps he missed

I was a big Mavs fan until Maimi Heat beat them FOUR GAMES IN A ROW I saw how much Dirk was crying to the refs on every little tick tacky foul

I played college hoops so I know how to play and you never go crying to ref - you just beat he crap out of the guy you are gaurding with out getting caught

but he chokes in big games

Meh you're right, get back at me in the playoffs. Or the second half of the season, because we're clearly not together as a team yet.

True, but can they do this all season? I'm concerned.
