I prefer this one. Utah makes a backbreaking three with seconds to go and Dirk pulls the dagger out and jams it right back in them! :laugh2:

Meh you're right, get back at me in the playoffs. Or the second half of the season, because we're clearly not together as a team yet.

Tony Parker has been out most of the season. Ginobili is not 100%. They're still working on a rotation. Pops will have them clicking by January, like he always does.

True, but can they do this all season? I'm concerned.

What's the problem? I haven't had a chance to watch any of their games yet, but from what I have heard they are much more tenacious on D this year, and the offense obviously never left.

I'm not sure what they will do once Nash leaves, and who knows if Amare will be there next year (but most likely, he will). But for now, neither of those are an issue.

i think what you see if what you get, they are gonna win lots of games and be a high seed. But that being said i still dont think they will have playoff success because teams can adjust to their type of play

Im feeling really good about the Mavs chances this year if they can get into the playoffs healthy.

Gooden, Humphries, and Tim Thomas all look like they are going to be great off the bench.

Roddy Beaubois has potential to be a phenom by years end. Carlisle need to play that guy more.

I just really like this team. They are so much better from a year ago. I think we got a shot at taking down Denver this year in the post season.

I'm pleasantly surprised by all of the new additions to the team, especially Contract Year Damp. ;)

I wasn't too thrilled to pick up Thomas, but it's hard to argue when he is only going to be a 10th or 11th man with length/height and 3pt range. Add him to Humphries, Beaubois, Terry, and Ross and we have a much, much better bench over last year's team, even without Brandon Bass. No more Gerald Green, Devean George, or the Ghost of Jerry Stackhouse, and certainly no more Matt Carroll except in garbage time.

Carlisle seems to have the team playing defense under Year 2, shown by their ability to win games even when the shots are not falling. They have already won 6 games this year when shooting under 42% as a team (they were 3-20 in such games all of last year, so they have already doubled the wins on bad shooting nights).

Roddy Buckets is awesome. The kid has got a TON of potential. Blazing speed, good range, a 6'2" player who can easily finish on alley oops or knock down a three, and has the wingspan of a 6'10" player. He is already a very good defender, but brings so much athleticism and potential scoring punch as he keeps improving. He is going to give teams fits on both ends of the court. :D

I think Nash has too many minutes and the team may be worn out by April.

The problem in the past has been when teams force the ball out of Dirk's hands and the rest of the team can't take advantage of the mismatches elsewhere on the floor. I don't think that's going to be as big of a problem this year as long as Howard can stay healthy and Marion is here. The Howard thing is iffy though. His ankles blow.

Do you think at some point that Rick is going to let the guy actually play more in games?

Teams cant stop him when he is in the game but Rick wont let him get minutes.

Up until the last game, his and JJB's minutes were getting closer to even. I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before he passes JJB up in minutes.

Yeah its so obvious who the better player is between the 2.

Nothing against JJB. Hes done the best he could as a back up for us.

Roddy B is the future and he is further ahead of schedule than the Mavs thought he would be at this point imo.

Its time to unleash him and let him do his thing.

:hammer:

JJB's +/- numbers have really been troubling this year. I love what he brings but it is no shocker that he is a liability on defense. The team as a whole is +72 in point differential but -27 when JJB is in the game. That is a huge discrepancy.

And as Ozzu said, Beaubois' minutes are steadily increasing as JJB's numbers drop. Give it time.

I also love how people try and say Duncan's done, he's the reason the Spurs have won a few games this year, guy's knee might be a little screwed up, but he's still got it.

Hes good but he can't carry the Spurs by himself like he used to.

The supporting cast needs to step up for them this year. They got talent.

clutch as it gets? how many championships does he have? and how did he do in the finals the only time he got there? dont even mention tim duncan in the same breath as Irk Nodicksky, he cant play defense, he isnt clutch when it matters, and he hasnt won anything of any consequense. Id rather have tim take a three to win a game in the playoffs that Irk

Dirk did just fine in those Finals and if you'll bother to look at his historical numbers, you'll see he has played (on average) great in the playoffs. As for the old "ikr"...well he plays much better D now than in the past, but he'll never be a great defender.

The guy has gotten better every year and is always working on his weaknesses.

Ask any NBA player across the board--they all say Dirk is a beast.

And that comment about rather having freaking Tim take a 3 to win it...good god man...what are you talking about!

We stole Roddy B! This guy has huge upside and is already a real thrill to watch. And yeah, no doubt that JJB is a defensive liablility. I love his energy but he has obvious limitations.

Maybe, maybe not. Nash is averaging 33:17 per game so far, which is actually a bit less than he averaged last year and his lowest since 2002-03, and he has yet to play even 38 minutes in a single game. Compare that to Jason Kidd who is averaging 35 minutes per, and already has four games where he has logged 39 minutes or more.
