I got my e-mail yesterday, so I am getting NFL ST Max free also. For the 4th year in row now, as well 6 of the last 7 years. The past 2 years I did not have to call to ask for it.
I had it from 1997 through 2014 (paid) (skipped 2005 as I was out of the country for work), skipped 2015, free 2016-17, they would not give it to me in 2018, then got it free since.
I was told back in May, they usually give it to customers with the premium or above TV packages.

I believe because they been losing so many customers lately, they give it free to keep the current customers for at least through the football season.
I kind of hope DTV gets to keep it so I can keep getting it free.
And it is only for the satellite subscribers, not the streaming service.

yeah I was a bit surprised…it had been under my wife’s name until I canceled in early 21 and I signed up under my name to get it free last year.

Really wish they would just go to a pay per view format and charge like 10 bucks a game

This..........I'm sold already

DirecTV’s role
DirecTV required all Sunday Ticket package owners to also become DirecTV customers. That condition will no longer apply for this new deal, opening up the package to many new subscribers who will no longer balk at spending hundreds of dollars on the package because they didn’t want DirecTV.

I was hoping this would be the case. Even though some other streaming services are a lot less per month than DirecTV, it still sucks to pay from a subscription you don;t want just to get the Sunday Ticket. But at $300 and more and more games broadcast in prime time the value of the Sunday Ticket is diminishing.

I wonder if it was a mistake for DirecTV to require people to also have their service for Sunday Ticket? How many people didn't get Sunday Ticket because of that, as opposed to those that got DirecTV because of Sunday Ticket?

Just 1 person not getting it is the cost of Sunday Ticket. You would need at minimum 3-4 people to make up for that.

I no longer have interest. But at one point I would have got Sunday Ticket if I didn't need DirecTV. I would have even paid more, I just didn't want their stupid dish.
I get why they required service since they still had to go out and install your dish and provide a box
But it’s the 21st century so there are better options
I wish they’d sell team packages at a more reasonable price. Say you get 3 team for 50 bucks a year on a stream service
The streaming services though will likely require you to buy a package plus the Sunday ticket, but theirs are much cheaper than anything direct had

I canceled direct tv last week. Of course they email me offering Sunday ticket free if I sign back up. I can’t stomach paying 130 bucks a month for 6 months and then they give me a discount for ticket (meanwhile others getting it free) so I pay like 170 bucks for the other 6 months. We don’t watch it enough. You can get discovery+ and other apps for 6 bucks and have plenty to watch and use antenna for locals. Or Pluto tv is free. If they offer it as a 1 time fee for a couple hundred then I will spring for it. This year I will be depending on other means to watch the game but I think I have it figured out.

What can go good for you if you ask for the Cancellation dept .. not Customer Care Dept.
and request cancellation, the Cancellation dept will try to break a deal with you before you make it official to cancel .

Cancellation dept have even told me that they have more control and flexibility to arrange bargain deals and offers than
Customer Care Service dept.

Several times before i eventually left DirectTV for good ( for sake of streaming before ATT/Direct TV finally caught on to streaming)
Direct TV Cancellation Dept offered me ..either free NFL Sunday Ticket ..and twice with a one time fee of $70 bucks for 5 months (covered entire NFL season)

Around here, like 12 of the games are on anyway, so I'm figuring that's your logic.

What do you do for the rest? Hit a bar, or just miss them?

There's only about 2 games a year not aired by me. Last year only the Falcons game I couldn't watch. But I always get all games played against the Eagles and Giants. But Cowboys games wasn't the reason I wanted NFL ticket. Because besides the Cowboys games, what was I going to watch? Let's say the Cowboys play at 4. Who's playing at 1? Some stupid Jets game? I didn't want to watch that. But now they air a lot more good games than they used to. And besides, there aren't that many games besides the Cowboys I'm interested in watching anymore.

I agree. I would pay for 1 team, maybe. Because like I said in my last post, the only Cowboys game no aired by me last year was against the Falcons. Usually it's two games. I don't know how much I want to pay for that.

I have a question. DirecTV required you to get their service for Sunday Ticket. But there was an exception. If for whatever reason you weren't allowed DirecTV where you lived, say an apartment building, then they would still sell you Sunday Ticket. I had to actually input my address. So how do they give you the service if they can't install the dish?

I was thinking of signing up for Hulu live tv. It’s 65 bucks a month and right now it’s including Disney+ and espn+. So if Disney gets the ticket Disney prescribers may get the ticket free the first year. Direct tv angered me last year. I called to get the regular discount of 50% off. Which they just apply discounts to your bill. Half the year I would pay 20 bucks more than usual bill the other half of the year it’s slightly less than normal. The next day I had 3 people tell me they got a flyer in the mail and a email confirming they were getting it free of charge that year. After I already was on the hook with a 12 month contract. So last Saturday after 27 years I pulled the plug.
Amazon prime. MeTV is free. All my westerns. Lol An Amazon prime comes with Disney. I don’t think you need to pay for Hulu you can get it for free. Just have to search other streaming market

$300 is still a hefty price to pay. Isnt the NFL offering their stream service for in-market games for around $6 a month
Yeah, 300 bucks is a lot of cash, but it's $17.65 a week, a movie ticket and a bag of popcorn, a little more than half the price of one ticket to a Cowboys preseason game in the nosebleeds. How much would ya pay for food and beer watching a game for three hours at a bar on a Sunday? I can see how the money wouldn't be worth it to a lot of people, especially when 3/4 of the Cowboys' schedule is national games. For me, though, living in, uhm, Commander country, I like knowing I'm not gonna miss a game. I just like NFL football too and am usually watching three or four games at a time and flipping around to keep tabs on them all, especially NFC East and big games. (RedZone is cool but I wanna watch the games I wanna watch.) So it's worth the money to me, and I think probably a lot of people, and if it doesn't have the price of a service attached to it I bet a ton of people will spring for it. I think it's pretty chitty that the NFL demands that the company who pays $2B to stream NFL games charge a premium price to keep subscriptions down, but I'd be pissed too if I were CBS or FOX and Apple was adding Sunday Ticket to a $40/month bundle.

I think it's more priority than price for most people. It's not a simple 17.65 a week, it's an added $70 a month bill. There are a lot of services you can get for only 10 or 15 a month. But they add up. There's Amazon Prime, Netflix, cable bill, do you want HBO with that? I think people just don't want to add that bill to what they already have. Even though they could. But I can see if Sunday Ticket is a top priority, it really isn't that expensive. Like I've said, there was a time I was eagerly willing to pay for it. Even pay more if they didn't insist on me getting DTV.

Oh, I agree completely. That's what I was trying to say. Everyone has different priorities for their disposable income. I was just pointing out that as entertainment goes, paying $17.65/wk. for Sunday Ticket is a decent deal if watching NFL football is where ya wanna put your entertainment budget. And I think without a service attached ST will be a lot more attractive to a lot more people. A la cart games or team packages would be ideal but that's not the way the League does business. But who knows?

Not just the NFL. A lot of businesses have moved away from that. They don't see it as the best business model. There was a time you could pick and choose every option when you bought a new car. They don't want that. They want you to pay for stuff you don't want, along with the stuff you want.

Cable companies are the same way. They have packages. The whole idea is to get you to pay for what you want, and more....

They might offer different options, but I highly doubt they'll let you pay by game or team. That goes against the model.

Yeah but $70-$75 a month for just 4 months out of the year.

Sunday Ticket is totally woth it if you're into fantasy football.

I use DAZN and get every football game and redzone for 20 bucks a month lol.

They only mention indoor football on their list of sports. I guess they only list the sports currently in season. Do they also air college football?
