Distant Observations

I haven't been nearly as active this yr on the boards or Cowboys news. Work and family life have been very busy. So these are observations without the knowledge of all the day to day articles.

Kosier is possibly our best lineman, the line just looks out of sync without him. He's always been a liability against teams with 2 big DT's though, but he's so important vs the active fronts we face in Philly, Gmen, etc.

Barbers best attribute was he slammed into the hole and didn't overthink it, he things too much now and loses the one advantage he had (uncommone busrt to the hole with power)

Positive for me was Roy Williams he's never gonna be what I thought, but he looks to be on the road to being very solid andgives Tony a big strong target.

I'm very concerned about Austin, I've never thought of him as a number 1, he seems like Alvin Harper, but he's had some poor outings this preseason. We might have our number 1 in Dez it's important for Hollywood Austin to get his head on straight.

I wasn't impressed with Lee lastnight and thought I would be, the Dline was getting shoved around so I'm sure that was part of it.

We miss Spears on 1st and 2nd down.

I don't think McGhee is the future here, still upset we let the Moore kid get picked up by Carolina. He had Moxie :)

I'm ready for games that count, I'm a positive person, and try not to overeact, but that was a very poor effort. I'm having a tough time dismissing it as not a big deal, but I'd like too.

Not bad Tobal, for not being as tuned in as you say you are. Good observations. Don't think anyone would disagree with ya. Oh, except maybe Romo 2 Austin with the whole Hollywood Austin comment and not being a #1 WR.

I hope I'm off on that I like Austin, good kid, I'd love him to do well it's just with the thousands of beautiful women in Dallas, his college town or his hometown he picks a famous women, who is famous for being famous.

I will disagree about Austin, and your comparison to Alvin Harper. I think Miles is much more versatile than Harper was. He was, statistically, the top receiver in the league last year. Harper was never close to being that good, even for a season. Whether Miles can repeat that, remains to be seen.

Agree with everything else, especially the points about Barber and Spears.

Not worried in the least about Smiles. He's worked too hard and too long to get to this point only to fumble. Has anyone forgotten that he's still playing for a big payday?

We saw Miles and Tony on the same page via the backshoulder TD fade against the Chargers. We have nothing to worry about with Austin.

You have not been around lately, but it may be prudent for you to get a protective order.

The name in question is Romo 2 Austin.

And tell them that 200 feet ain't wide enough.

Uh oh wait until Romo 2 Austin reads this post...

:muttley:

Tobal Miles Austin is the real deal, he still works hard and will be ready for the season...

I think Austin is the real deal.

That said, I also think he's had a drop in each of the last 2 games (if my memory serves me correctly).

Again, it's all part of the entire offense focusing and executing better.

I've been put in protective custody, but there are too many windows in this room. I guess my deal with Austin was that he'd disappear for long stretches last yr and then explode for huge numbers. I just want more consistency from him. Maybe he was getting doubled, but it didn't really look like it. I think you have to account for him, but I don't think you worry about him like you did TO in his prime, Andre Johnson, or a top tier WR.

Granted I didn't pay as close of attention, but when I did it wasn't. Romo and Austin beat Jenkins on this play, or Austin hit Romo over Newman. I didn't hear that as much as in the past you'd hear about a QB and his number 1 WR.
